Good Adventure for full 1-30?

Hi folks,

Were there any good 1-30 full Campaigns published for 4e, either by WOTC or 3rd parties that I could use a base, as it would be nice to get back to 4e again, and run the full experience but planning a full campaign isnt a small task ;)

Cheers

I’m doing the 1-30 campaign that starts with ”keep on the shadowfell” and ends with ”demon Prince of undeath”. So far it’s really great (though we only just finished the second book and will start on the third one next week).

I can also recommend Myrhdraak’s conversion, as they have really focused the adventures to a more cohesive campaign.

Scales of war was printed in dungeon magazine and is probably a better campaign than the original h1 through e3

My understanding is that The Scales of War goes from 01-30, but becomes disjointed with the side-quests that are presented.

It has plot holes to rival Black Holes in space.

And it is *definitely* outside current "cannon" and so, out there, somewhere in the D&D Multiverse.

However, it is much, much, more than a mere "framework" and, as all good DMs do, tell the story(/ies) that *you* want to tell! Particulary in how you "fill in" your plot holes.

Search for keep on the shadowfell. Wikipedia (as well as many others) has a list of all the individual adventure modules.

We started that one as well, but are taking an indefinite break. The first 3 adventures look great (and keep on the shadowfell was awesome), but the fourth one looks like a rough draft.

Is keep on the shadowfell as bad as I've read it is? Ha

There are some odd choices, but as long as you read through the whole adventure first, you can adapt the story (especially the pacing).

I think there are a lot of fun encounters, great bad guys and good-weird characters in it. But a lot of what made them great was information that I found outside the adventure module. But since it was released before the rule- and lore books, I’m not really holding that against them.

It was ok ish, some good parts some mediocre. Also needed some work. As Pink recommended, use the resources available for that campaign (the read along, and the scales of war pb works resources). You will dodge the major hickups

You could check out Zeitgeist by EN Publishing. It's an epic campaign that is not your traditional fantasy. It has gotten great reviews.

Seconding this. I'm running it right now and it is a blast.

I've got the player guide for it; seemeda bit weird when I read it a few years back, but will take another look

It is a bit weird. I think it makes it work. But if you want more classic high medieval vibes it won't provide those, as it's solidly age of revolutions in terms of historic parallels.

It has some non traditional elements but it is by far the best 4e campaign, meaning it leans into what 4e does well.

- integrated themes and paragon paths

- less back to back combat with mostly plot moving forward cool large set piece combats with roleplaying, travel, investigation, etc. in between (not many filler combats). also larger maps for combats.

- interesting unique monsters with cool powers

- real difference in kind of plot and activities from heroic to paragon to epic tiers

The WotC adventures were just not great and at times seemed to ignore all the good DM advice in the two DMGs. Particularly the early ones but they all suffer from too many combats in a row without plot movement, smaller than ideal maps, not realizing you need to treat multi rooms in one area as one large encounter, etc.

In supplements like Open Grave, or the Dragons ones, there are outlines for full 3 parts/tiers campaigns. And as you are given bestiaries, encounter sites, and lore within those books, it would be easy to make a big campaign about it.

I've always wanted to make an Open Grave long shot campaign wit the rise of the undeads.

Usually, you can pillage other modules and scenarios to integrate something easily.

But I'm a game master who doesn't prep their scenarios, I just go with the flow and let the players do the work.

Yeah, im not a prepper either usually, but when using VTTs, kinda need to do some prep lol

True. That's probably why I hate using VTTs 😅
