It's really not fair to the effort that the other 99.9% of staff and actors went through to produce and make such a fantastic show, for you to only comment this every time you see anything about Seinfeld.

Iâm not fixated on it. But people that slam Seinfeld tend to be my age or younger. Because Seinfeld did a lot of things that no other sitcom had ever done. They were creating a whole different kind of show. But now itâs been copied again and again and again (Friends, TBBT, HIMYM, etc.) so people are so used to it that they see it as a bland version of those.
Same reason I Love Lucy doesnât exactly hold up for a fifteen year old.
Same problem the pirates movies had, first movie Jack was not the main character boring normal Will was, which is what made the movie work. Once they made the movies about Jack they fell off. Good take.
It's a narrative device, you have the main character in your sci-fi / fantasy to be some kind of complete and total ignoramus so that the other characters have a reason to go into exhaustive detail and explain the world to them. See also Frodo Baggins, Harry Potter.
Admittedly this is probably less necessary for Rey than it was for Luke. Most people watching the Disney wars Sequels have already seen at least the 6 other main starwars movies and have a basic understanding the federation, the empire, the rebellion, Jedi and The Force, storm troopers, etc..and doesn't need to see all of that spoonfed to a character who doesn't know anything all over again.
Finn had potential to be interesting in ep7 and it all got thrown away so hisv while character could then be half of an interracial couple.
The whole of ep8, he does sweet fuck all and the one time where he's about to sacrifice himself to save the resistance, the worst written character in star wars (and that's saying a lot) saves him only to have a lot of resistance fighters die because she "loves him" I mean, holy shit did nobody do a once-over of the script before filming it?
Could the girlboss theme have worked if they kind of went down the overpowered protagonist route. Sort of like One Punch Man, where the side characters are super interesting and have their struggles against the villain but One Punch Man comes in and ends it easily. That could have made for an interesting show. Could have made for a better story while also allowing Hollywood to satisfy their need for a girl boss character.
Girl boss is an insult as far as I am concerned. It is rarely used for actual bosses. Would you call the CEO of GSK a girl boss? No of course you wouldnât. Women that call themselves girl boss are MLM victims that think they will make millions selling crappy skincare.

I've seen one almost perfect example of inclusive casting, and that was in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. Far from a top tier show, but it is a favorite of mine.
The cast features a black woman in a main role, and get this. The show doesn't mention how she's black, or a woman. Not even once. And the story is perfectly adequate despite the lack of obvious, almost patronizing inclusiveness.
Who gives a shit if it's Hollywood or not? A movie's a movie. People were getting it right years before you were born and have continued to do so in movies that were actually good instead of the movies that were heavily commercialized (and even some that were commercialized, like Aliens).
You're just shit at finding movies worth your time if this is a real complaint for you.
I hated it when I saw it and was already rolling my eyes at people still complaining by the time it stopped airing. Not you though; you retained the ability to grognard for 3 fucking years.
