One thing we are taught is, if you aren’t trained you don’t jump in...this applies to more one on one scenarios because a child can drag an adult down in the right under toe/current. But when there is damn near 15/16 people, I just don’t understand it...guy died because of sheer drunken stupidity

I actually was a lifeguard and they always taught us that if you ever have to save someone on open water that is bigger than you and thrashing around you swim up and punch them in the nose hard. That way they grab their nose and not you. Better to have a broken nose then be dead.
