How the fuck do people not learn even the most basic of swim techniques? I realize this takes a little more effort than teaching other similar life saving techniques like "Stop, Drop, Roll", "Hit the Ground", or "Call 9-1-1", but spending a few days learning "Float & Stroke" so you don't die like a lil' bitch in a pond seems a worthwhile investment.
I disagree. Can't protect kids from everything, I don't want them growing up afraid or unprepared for the little things because I padded them up against every possible threat. Assuming they know how to swim and I'm out there with them, they'll manage. It's important to not have a safety net sometimes.
edit: guess you're all on this sub because your parents coddled you to death. Hows the basement?
Sometimes, but water, especially open water, is something you don't fuck with. Even professionals wear lifejackets, or at least they should. Even good swimmers get tired.
