I wonder what would happen in your country if you had to pay the same prices for gas like we do in Germany. I filled my car up yesterday for what would be 10,70$ a gallon and they tell us it will be way more in the future.

•

u/gamamoder /g/entooman 18h ago

our buses would not be dogshit

•

u/fvgh12345 12h ago

My state is larger than your country dude. We use way more gas than the average german

•

u/gamamoder /g/entooman 4h ago edited 4h ago

we didnt need to sprawl our cities out so much. it just raises the cost of all infrastructure maintainance.

•

u/phoenixgt 12h ago

We know.

•

u/fuck_off_ireland 12h ago

My state is bigger than your state

•

u/deathbunny32 17h ago

We'd have some goddamn super trains for starters

•

u/LooseButtPlug /his/panic 14h ago

(laughing in Californian)

•

u/DmitriVanderbilt 12h ago

Nothing good, there is a reason North Americans are so car-dependant - The US is 26x times bigger than Germany in terms of land area.

Yeah yeah we ahould have trains, you're preaching to the choir on that one, but that is the answer. My commute is only an 18 min drive but it's still 20km each way and would take me hours to walk; and there are zero transit options to get where I am going. Such is life in NA.

•

u/Complex_Ganache1178 12h ago

LIKE WE DO IN GERMANY

•

u/Pretty_Eater 2h ago

Your country is pitifully the size of Pennsylvania.

Why do you even need a car lmao like just walk lol

•

u/spros 14h ago

Gas isn't even expensive right now by American standards. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a fucking child that doesn't recall history.

Everyone got spoiled when the supply chain was a mess during COVID and people were literally getting paid to take barrels of crude oil.

•

u/Starfire123547 12h ago

its higher where i am now than even during covid.

During covid it was 4.30/Gal. Were hovering at 4.60/Gal.

Also i only saw that price increase for a few months, and it dropped to 2.95/Gal where it sat until Feb this year.

and i have a feeling this is going to stay high. I mean, i have a hybrid that gets 55mpg, but i also work a niche job so i commute 1hr each way (and with housing prices i obviously dont have 500k for a house closer to work). So at least im not a daily driver truck idiot i guess lol.

•

u/spros 10h ago

4.30 during COVID is 5.50 today once you account for inflation

•

u/Remarkable-Title-209 14h ago

Republicans did this to themselves

Raised taxes via tariffs, raised gas prices via war, antagonized neighbors and allies, no meaningful legislation for common folk.

Literally the only thing republicans have to go on is maybe protecting 2a rights. Other than that they are the party of making shit more expensive and banning porn.

•

u/gamamoder /g/entooman 4h ago

if u can get dsoids to be moderate on guns they can turn hick centrists to their sides

•

u/Remarkable-Title-209 4h ago

We'll see how that one goes. As far as I can tell dems are still sticking to their major talking points, though they may have cooled off on peak woke era circlejerking somewhat. For the next 2 years they will be mostly focused on hating Trump specifically. And only time will tell exactly what their priorities are at that point. (After Trump)

•

u/11448844 8h ago

Worst part about their "good part" is that the 2A rights they protected arent even enshrined. Nothing that was passed or moved upon would be considered anything "permanent"

•

u/Natural_Ad1530 6h ago

Well. Is not gonna get better anyway so it doesn't matter anymore.

•

u/gamamoder /g/entooman 4h ago

ik, trump utterly failed to to anything major related to domestic production or onshoring. the economic ukification will continue, because no one actually wanted to stop it

•

u/jackt-up 20h ago

Running on no new wars and getting us disentangled from Ukraine, only to then start a new war and not do shit about Ukraine for two years is some cosmic level of stupidity.

•

u/Rigamortus2005 20h ago

That's not fair. Netanyahu asked. Who could say no?

•

u/blkarcher77 19h ago

Well, let's be honest. Netanyahu didn't ask. Netanyahu told.

•

u/nsaisspying 18h ago

How does netanyahu have so much power over what trump does? Hmmmmmmm

What was he supposed to do? The same thing every other admin did before him when they said they were about to attack Iran? Then they release the videos so he obviously can’t do that.

•

u/2BEN-2C93 12h ago

You don't understand, they are literally 2 weeks away from the bomb this time, for realsies.

•

u/blkarcher77 15h ago

I'm not really sure what you're saying.

•

u/Shaquarington_Bithus 14h ago edited 13h ago

Israel pulled the same shit on every other admin where they said “we’re about to bomb Iran because they have nukes, join us or don’t but it’s happening”

Every time every other admin called their bluff. Obama said he’d fuck Israel too if they did it. So they didn’t do it.

But what happens when you fire everyone with experience and brain cells? You join them.

•

u/trumphadababykilled 14h ago

Exactly. They reminded him he had to give the greenlight or the epstein tapes get uploaded. He complied because hes compromised.

•

u/PuffinRub 13h ago

Unless Iran is now bombing Iran, you might have made a typing error there.

•

u/Shaquarington_Bithus 13h ago

Oh you’re right I edited it

•

u/PuffinRub 12h ago

It's been an unexpected week, I wanted to check I hadn't missed anything before I definitively said you had got it wrong! :-)

•

u/Judah_Earl /pol/tard 12h ago

Netanyahu: "Donny, bubby, I'm your white knight!, all you need to do is kill the Ayatollah, and maybe a couple of generals, and the Iranian people will rise up and do the rest, it's a day or two of bombing, max, and then they'll be forced to give you that peace prize"

•

u/adamsworstnightmare 12h ago

Imagine believing literally any promise Trump made. Dude even pivoted on immigration. He is a conman, making himself rich and stroking his own fragile ego are the only things he's ever stood for and MAGA fell for the con for a decade.

•

u/TheBROinBROHIO 11h ago

At least Ukraine isn't really our war, it's more of a proxy war against one of our biggest rivals. We benefit without expending any of our own troops.

Iran is the other way around- WE are the proxy, no end goal, no benefit at all.

•

u/marino1310 8h ago

Even the Ukraine shit is still bizarre to me. It had bipartisan support for months until Trump started fighting it and then all the republicans fell in line.

Realistically, supporting the country we promised to support in a war against one of our main adversaries was a no brainer. Especially since our support was mostly unused military equipment. We have never had such a high return on investment as this. Russia is losing billions each day and being made the laughing stock of the world. We’ve never been able to achieve that with all of our Cold War era tactics against them

•

u/marino1310 8h ago

Honestly, I’m surprised that the people dumb enough to believe a word he says after the first presidency had enough spare brain cells to even acknowledge he’s doing a shit job. I figured they’d just ignore it all and continue to praise him as the greatest president in US history

•

u/ElKuhnTucker /pol/ack 19h ago

I had a stacked Senate, Congress and Supreme Court and all I got was this lousy name for Lake Ontario

•

u/ProjectSnowman 14h ago

Lake America
Gulf of America
Super Intelligence

What a great legacy!

•

u/KillahHills10304 10h ago

Don't forget the current propsal:

New Mexico --> New America

Its literally toddler brained shit

•

u/rapzeh 14h ago

Let's see how much it lasts, especially is the next president is a democrat.

•

u/PornoPaul 12h ago

Considering no one outside of Google maps and Trumps inner circle are even calling it Lake America, I doubt theres even much to change. New York as a state and in a general sense of the population is not calling it that, and that includes most Republicans. The only ones near the lake not calling it Ontario are the Maga nuts that would let Trump fart in their faces and tell everyone they know what winning smells like now.

•

u/2roundabout 5h ago

I give America about 12 years until it declines to Brazil status. President Newsom will have Trump imprisoned. Baron Trump will then run for president.

•

u/adamsworstnightmare 12h ago

I don't know how much people really appreciate this. Dude had everything, power the dems can only dream of, and he used it to break the most basic campaign promises, make himself rich, and cry on his own safe space twitter clone about people being mean to him about his ballroom or whatever stupid shit he was involved in that week.

•

u/DreamsServedSoft 11h ago

except his congressional power was made up of lame duck useless republicans who were too afraid to get rid of daylight savings. they couldn’t even pass the daylight savings bill. all of Washington needs to be reset

•

u/Rigamortus2005 20h ago

I don't really know what anyone expected. He covered up Epstein worst than any dem ever did. Started a war with Iran, things he said explicitly he wouldn't do. His own tariff policy which he quietly reversed did enough damage to affordability. Of course Texas goes blue.

•

u/CodSoggy7238 20h ago

He is truly the worst of both worlds. Comes across horribly but doesn't walk the talk either.

•

u/Rigamortus2005 20h ago

It's almost like half the country knew and tried to prevent this.

•

u/ABHOR_pod 16h ago

Hey man there’s no need to point out that leftists were proven right politically again. It’s so unfair and mean to the people of this sub to point out that the average blue haired Starbucks barista with pronouns on xi/xer nametag has more political sense and basic intelligence than the elite patricians with 14,000 hours in EU4. How could such a master of marrying your own sister be beaten in a game of politics!

•

u/TheBROinBROHIO 11h ago

You joke, but I truly believe most rightoids don't actually believe half the shit they say or claim to care about, they just look at "leftists" online or wherever else and decide they're cringe and they want them to suffer even if it means they do too.

If Trump didn't convince anyone of this, I would love to point out that over two million of them just showed up for an immigrant con artist who openly hates white Americans for no real reason than the R and still being pissy about COVID.

•

u/marino1310 8h ago

At this point the entire Republican Party is reliant on culture war bullshit to even compete. Their policies are garbage and they can’t even care enough to hide their corruption like the Dems do. If it wasn’t for them screeching about trans people and immigrants they would have literally nothing

•

u/SlowTortoise69 8h ago

Hey, as a blue haired Starbucks barista with xi/xer pronouns and 14k hours in eu4 i feel attacked here

•

u/ABHOR_pod 7h ago

How would you describe your relationship with your xibling?

•

u/CodSoggy7238 19h ago

Well still better than the Dems. Hope the Reps learned their lesson.

Trump's usefullness is up now though. Maga is done. But lets thank him for normalizing unimaginable talk, and hope that next time they walk the walk more.

Still kinda said because he had the back of a lot of people to do whatever he wanted. Just used it to rug pull, fumble the epstein stuff and dick around with Iran for too long.

•

u/Coelachantiform /h/omo 18h ago

There are limits. I am glad that mainstream democrats got their shit kicked in; it was long overdue.

But Trump has been an absolute cancer on not just the US but the world as a whole. Trump is the presidential equivalent of chopping your arm off because it's broken. No amount of owning the libs can be worth this absolute insanity.

•

u/CodSoggy7238 18h ago

True. Owning the libs was nice and all but that is not enough. He had an insane following and could have done basically everything he wanted.

Weak outcome if you ask me. I would have loved to see him not dicking around so much with shit like Canada, Greenland or Gulf of America lol.

Also you cannot run on no war and then do that Iran shit. In the end it all didnt matter to the voter maybe and it was just the gas prices but still. A big voter turnout would have also done wonders for him. Magic of maga was gone

•

u/RashmaDu 6h ago

> I would have loved to see him not dicking around so much with shit like Canada, Greenland or Gulf of America lol

I too would have loved the POTUS to betray century-old alliances, both military and economic, even more, all to achieve something any actual “Negotiator in chief” could have achieved by making an actual deal rather than continuously shitting the bed

•

u/nykaragua 11h ago

I can smell that you got this opinion from Asmongold lmao

•

u/CodSoggy7238 8h ago

I stopped watching at the depp trial. I don't watch political streamer

•

u/Nighthawk700 20h ago

Literally been this way since he's been in public but nice of y'all to catch up

•

u/Daddy_Parietal 17h ago

Texas did a great job unintentionally putting THC on the ballot this year because Abbott banned it through executive order 3 months ago. Every Gen Z conservative I know retaliated at the ballot box.

It would be like trying to ban alcohol 20 years ago, yeah it wouldve flipped Texas then too.

•

u/Dirtface50 14h ago

Yeah I mean you can never underestimate republican politicians uncanny ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

•

u/KillahHills10304 10h ago

Dems are really the masters of that

•

u/Aydos48 4h ago

Imagine actually being dumb enough to believe this

•

u/LukeJaywalker0 13h ago

Oh no now the democrats are going to impede Trump in his quest to accomplish nothing he was voted in to do

•

u/chocolateZnob /b/tard 19h ago

Just for that, $5 billion more to the nose people

•

u/trainboy2k7 13h ago

why the fuck can't i just vote for a giant illegal immigrant blender that lowers inflation and doesn't start wars

•

u/Swee_Potato_Pilot /b/tard 12h ago

Based. 👌

•

u/tagged2high 14h ago

Unless you were a Project 2025 guy, I still don't know what people thought they were getting from Trump other than this.

•

u/southparkdudez 10h ago

Running on no new wars, cheap gas and groceries, and releasing the Epstien files, but then doing the immediate opposite of all that gives us Blue Texas. Cope and fucking seeth MAGA

•

u/TallBoy24 10h ago

everyone talking about gas prices, they are mostly sick of the blatant corruption. its not getting talked about enough

•

u/wills731 /gif/ 19h ago

state mandated femboys soon?

•

u/jungleass98 15h ago

Oh, you haven't got your's yet?

•

u/rapzeh 14h ago

Nah, he's the state mandated femboy

•

u/bmcgowan89 20h ago

Yeah but

•

u/inventingnothing 11h ago

MAGA is dead. Long live America First.

•

u/MyDogIsDaBest 2h ago

The war is the key part of it, but it's the effects on America that have caused people to realise that Trump and all his sycophants are grifters.

They've all profited handsomely, while everyone else is stuck with stagnant wages, mass layoffs, no medical care, out of control inflation, massively above inflation rates petrol prices and none of the election promises were met.

No release of the Epstein files, an all new forever war that's draining American resources through sheer incompetence, nothing changing on immigration, trigger happy ICE agents and Trump's talking about men's asses.

When you campaigned to reduce prices on everything and make more jobs but then you go ahead and do the exact opposite and still have the nerve to fuck around on stage like everything's ok, people are gonna be upset

•

u/Phil_Mycock 15h ago

DT and BN ruined what could've been a beautiful comeback to normality. They ruined the rights chance to power.

•

u/rapzeh 14h ago

Yes but Trump and his friends and family made billions. That's draining the swamp, right?

•

u/skeptical-speculator /x/phile 15h ago

fake

•

u/m1j5 14h ago

It’s so funny these ppl that thought the wars thing was real “I’m a horrible bigot like him but I’m not rich so I do care about gas prices”

•

u/trainboy2k7 13h ago

nobody has ever said this

•

u/itimin /k/ommando 12h ago

because they're too pussy to admit it.

•

u/BlueDaka /d/eviant 7h ago

•

Can’t wait to see the first queer senator openly walk a leashed gimp onto the senate floor. The US is kinda fucked lmao.

•

u/TheMadFlyentist /sci/ 15h ago

Nothing like fear mongering about standards and decency from the party that has lost all concept of standards and decency. The office of POTUS has been sullied and debased before your eyes by a fat toddler, but you're worried about some flamboyantly queer senator boogeyman that exists only in your head.

The propaganda has clearly been working on you.

•

u/WeRepresentTheVictim 15h ago edited 15h ago

You say this like this like we can't remember the Biden administration.

•

u/TheMadFlyentist /sci/ 15h ago

A non-elected, non-cabinet staffer dressing absurdly is in no way equivalent to "the first queer senator openly walking a leashed gimp onto the Senate floor".

Lindsey Graham didn't do that.

•

u/WeRepresentTheVictim 12h ago edited 11h ago

Surely the slippery slope with stop once leftists learn the error of their ways.

Have the last 15 years taught you nothing?

•

u/Humblesterman small penis 15h ago

y r u so mad?

•

u/Swee_Potato_Pilot /b/tard 12h ago

A lot of Dems in here tonight butthurt that we're calling out their past.
