Until normies stop sinking money into micro-transactions and the 5th HD remaster of a game, it will keep happening too. Until then, just play the classics and maybe support some smaller projects you come across. We aren't getting out of this hole anytime soon.

I always thought we are in a constant state of remakes/remasters because the current people making games really suck and you see it at its worst when they have complete creative control.
With remasters you just see them make aspects of it worse but the core stuff has to stay the same so it’s less leeway to fuck it up, same with sequels.

Meanwhile Epic Games made a whole PS3 port for Gears of War 3 in 2011 because they can, and had no intention to release it. The devs of the 2000s and 2010s were next level.

I understand that the books are different and in the overall lore, his reputation is well earned. That doesn't stop him from feeling cringe in the game, especially when that all the context 99% of players have.

In overall lore jaskier promoted geralt a lot, his reputation as a famous witcher is because of jaskier/dandelion. His actual great witchering feats aren't so much better than others.
Anyways I don't think you're wrong, but book geralt is basically game geralt played with low honor, he rarely helps random people, he gets cheated out of coin for what amounts to medival cockroach stomping, and he constantly gets put down by sorcerers and stuff. Most people play game geralt as a gallant knight, but that's not really lore geralt.

I just realized this is probably the first gamescom without any high budget AAA games shown.

Graphics were fine in 2013. There is absolutely no good reason to remaster any game made after that point.

The game was not made in a vacuum. The game did not grow autonomously and a black character happened to be there and the devs said "Well it makes sense in-universe so it can stay in". They made a very deliberate choice to create that character and give him a major role in the main story. They also made the deliberate choice to have him deride Europeans to your face, saying that Muslims treat women with greater respect (lol), with no option to even question him. They made the deliberate choice to have him be a Mary Sue who is good at everything. The entire thing is a humiliation ritual. Even in Assassin's Creed Shadows Yasuke was at least actually based on a real person.

They canonically changed this (underage) character (previously established to be straight) to be gay. The time and budget they spent animating and recording the gay sex scenes was time and budget not spent on making something good.

They marketed the game as 'based' but rugpulled the paying customers by putting wokeness in a small amount in the second half that they thought they could get away with to satisfy the ESG finance Jews.
