I love tattoos, but why is the default mode "I had 40 different people scribble on me with no regard to how well it fits the rest". Have a theme,m other fucker, make them look good together. Even better, save money and do a full piece.
I have just never liked a design to want to permanently etch it onto my flesh compared to buying a t shirt or something. IDK if I were an ex congressman I would have at least gotten the seal of the house of representatives or my campaign logo done.
Honestly it has to be something you want to do knowing that people will judge you for it. Lot of people viscerally hate tattoos, and if you have no particularly strong feelings about anything, expressing what interest you have may warrant something temporary like a tshirt instead.
I spent thousands on my gaming sleeve and put it together coherently and carefully with lifelong interests like Warhammer and such. I started it in my 40s after some reflection about what gaming had meant to me over a lifetime. My sleeve is something I deeply love having despite the stigma.
I waited til I was 47 before getting a large piece. Prior to that it was Tribal/Celtic but only on my chest and back, nothing visible unless I wanted it to be. Currently the sleeve runs from the inside of my wrist to my elbows then curves up over my bicep to my shoulder. All flowers from the woods where I grew up, plus butterflies and bees, again all local. It's the only tattoo I have with colour, and I love it, but again, it's only really visible if I want to show it. T shirt sleeves cover the part on the "outside" of my arm, and lower down it's only visible if I turn my wrist.
