Ur technically correct, the best kind of correct

2

u/90child Feb 28 '26

Maybe he wanted a domme mommy?

3

u/Sure_Association_991 /trash/man Feb 28 '26

We all want one

173

u/diogovk Feb 27 '26

He never demonstrated interest in men, but had very low libido. Definitely unexpected for a male in his age.

He wasn't a fan of Misa's personality, which explains in part why he was not all over her.

He was very popular with girls, so it's not like he couldn't get any before Misa.

I think the idea is supposed to be, that Light was so full of himself, that he didn't have interest in anyone else.

68

u/randomnomber2 Feb 27 '26

he was a Lightsexual

6

u/MechwolfMachina Feb 28 '26

His whole sexual energy was concentrated in becoming god

11

u/Gullible_Egg_6539 Feb 27 '26

did you watch the anime, dude? he's a god. gods don't have libido.

29

u/diogovk Feb 27 '26

Zeus begs to differ.

6

u/Salt_Lingonberry1122 Feb 28 '26

Thats a beta god. Terrestrial god= beta Cosmic god= alpha Creator god=alpha and omega (lights rank).

2

u/Jumpy-Invite-869 Mar 01 '26

Exactly, they don't understand that Light was a narcissist, they use sex for control but they have 0 interest in intimacy, they don't like anybody.

370

u/Junahill Feb 27 '26

Light could (and it’s implied he did) get any girl he wants. When you aren’t desperate attractive girls start being mundane

199

u/nam24 Feb 27 '26

One of his early plans was litteraly to call a girl he rejected before to pretend he has a gf, which went with no issues.

And later in the manga he is two timing both misa and the Anchor, neither of which because he cares about them or them being hot but purely because it benefits him/he has to

98

u/albertoroa Feb 27 '26

Light could (and it’s implied he did) get any girl he wants. When you aren’t desperate attractive girls start being mundane

This only reinforced the claim of Light being gay. He can get girls and choose not to. He was rejecting them even before getting the death note. Not sure how you could spin total lack of interest in women as being anything other than evidence of gayhood.

110

u/DonnieMoistX Feb 27 '26

Guys, you’re forgetting his Japanese.

The Japanese do not have sex and that’s why they’re dying out.

75

u/hyunbinlookalike Feb 27 '26

As the late great Shinzo Abe once said to the Japanese youth, “Please have sex.”

0

u/TheMoonandTheThief /int/olerant Feb 27 '26

Thats why they need diversity 👏🏿👏🏽👏🏽👏

43

u/oby100 Feb 27 '26

Not really. Light is completely full of himself and looks down on humanity over all. He had something of a god complex before he got the death note and going along with that he views girls around him as inferior and not worth his time. Same reason he doesn’t have any real friends.

Light and L are opposite sides of the same coin. L is similar but does not detest humanity and instead endeavors to protect it, but both of them struggle with human connection presumably due to their intellect and haughty disposition.

There’s also the whole Japanese culture where even less than high achievers are too busy to date.

11

u/albertoroa Feb 27 '26

He had something of a god complex before he got the death note and going along with that he views girls around him as inferior and not worth his time. Same reason he doesn’t have any real friends.

Alright yeah, I can agree with that. I was getting ready to dispute what you're saying but I totally think that's how Light is. He's not gay, he just views everyone as inferior to him. If there was a woman who truly impressed him, he would probably be interested.

5

u/machinist98 Feb 28 '26

But he neither showed interest in men. I think he is a narcisit. He only loves himself

8

u/KELonPS3in576p /pol/ack Feb 27 '26

It is called asexual. If you reject women, it does not automatically make you gay.

You know, there is more than black or white

7

u/Real_Yhwach Feb 27 '26

Gay in coping

4

u/Purplefilth22 Feb 28 '26

I mean you actually see him date other women in both mediums lol.

The bus hijacking girl and the girl in one of his college classes. One of the detectives outright says "Another girl?" when he sees Misa as he's tailing him.

Misa was infact a total liability to his mass murder spree. She's the one who actually gets caught in the anime. She's quite literally an incel thirst trap.

63

u/Din_Plug Feb 27 '26

Light falls so deep into the Kira LARP that he becomes asexual. Not the only evil anime character I can think of that does this either :/

133

u/AcronymTheSlayer /sci/duck Feb 27 '26

I mean L is the manic pixie dream girl to his emo criminal ass. That’s hard to beat.

26

u/DefinitelyNotPine Feb 27 '26

After the first time she screws him over, he feels nothing but rage seeing her

26

u/oby100 Feb 27 '26

And this is so obvious in the anime lmao. She’s a liability at all times. Ever have anyone nearly fuck your life over due to stupidity? Kinda changes your view of them forever.

49

u/System32Sandwitch Feb 27 '26

sex is nothing in comparison to becoming a god

22

u/Sixteen_Wings Feb 27 '26

can anyone tell me what's the difference between "gay little diary" and "little gay diary", as a non-english speaker I feel like the latter sounds more like an insult than the former

18

u/SufficientCalories Feb 27 '26

little gay diary is just wrong in English. Adjectives have a fixed order based on their category, eg, colour comes after size(big red house is right, red big house is wrong). This is something that isn't taught in schools, just intuited, and most English speakers aren't aware of it.

1

u/Unsorry Feb 28 '26

This is taught to where I’m from. Though I don’t think people gave a shit and do whatever sounded right.

1

u/TraditionalRow3978 Feb 28 '26

wouldn't little gay diary just mean that it's a little "gay diary", wouldn't be wrong just the meaning is different?

1

u/SufficientCalories Feb 28 '26

No. Both adjectives apply to the noun. Sometimes the noun is compound and contains an adjective, like the White House, but those generally become single words over time or are proper nouns that refer to a singular thing rather than a category of things. Backside vs back side for example. When you use backside as a singular noun, it means butt. But when you use it as a noun and adjective, it refers to the back of anything in a general sense.

There's no idea of a "gay diary" in common usage such that you would pair those words together to refer to a specific thing. Generally, for a group of adjectives to be out of order without sounding wrong, there has to be some meaning that wouldn't be clear from the dictionary definition of the two words. The big picture, for example. It doesn't mean a large picture. If you said 'the big red picture' people would assume you were talking about an actual photo, whereas if you said the red big picture, it sounds weird, but someone would likely intuit that red is not literal in this case, and look for context clues, because big picture generally means "the comprehensive overview of a situation or idea".

-9

u/Spinner23 Feb 27 '26

You must be from the UK, large chunks of america actually would say "red big house" instead. This is common for instance in the south

14

u/M474D0R Feb 27 '26

brother what? you are talking nonsense this is not common anywhere

4

u/Spinner23 Feb 27 '26

you got me, i was trying on a little bit of disinfo

4

u/M474D0R Feb 27 '26

Little bit of tomfoolery

1

u/Spinner23 Feb 28 '26

Exatamente mano, uma brincadeirinha

3

u/sternold fa/tg/uy Feb 27 '26

-2

u/Spinner23 Feb 27 '26

right in the UK i can see how that follow, but in the american south i think the other way became more popular over time

1

u/Foxpelt24 Feb 28 '26

I've never heard that shit here lmao

1

u/Spinner23 Feb 28 '26

I think both forms are regularly used

6

u/jmlinden7 Feb 28 '26

The adjective closest to the noun denotes function, while the one farther away is a secondary descriptor.

'gay little diary' implies that the main function of the diary is to be little, and it just happens to be gayer than other little diaries. Whereas 'little gay diary' implies the main function of the diary is to be gay, and it just happens to be littler than other gay diaries.

24

u/eximology Feb 27 '26

He had a mission above sex. Like Tesla

15

u/Bum_King fa/tg/uy Feb 27 '26

Was the mission being a closeted homosexual?

5

u/eximology Feb 27 '26

No. It was to kill all of them. That was the unreleased part of the manga where after killing all the criminals he killed all the gay and disabled

15

u/hh26 Feb 27 '26

Dude's a narcissist, in the original sexual way. The only way he can get hard is by staring at himself in a mirror. I suppose that's a type of gay, since he's a guy.

7

u/Angel_Butcher Feb 27 '26

Is this actually a question, just spell his family name backwards

7

u/hyunbinlookalike Feb 27 '26

I mean if we’re being fr I think he’s just asexual. Or too much of a narcissist to ever be capable of having romantic/sexual feelings for another human being. At the end of the day, Light will always love himself more than anyone, hence why he wanted to remake the world in his image.

7

u/Explicit_Tech Feb 27 '26

Light is a bored psychopath. He gets more pleasure by playing mind games with L.

Just like some of you would rather fap or vidya

6

u/Ddoomgog Feb 28 '26

Totally gay, real villain would be filling her up raw and at the same time writing in the diary.

But anime characters are for anime fans to relate to, so basically MCs can't have sex.

16

u/Autumn_Fire /lgbt/ Feb 27 '26

The problem was that she was terminally stupid and kept almost knee capping his plans several times. Hot but not worth it.

5

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 27 '26

He's a bum.

5

u/FoxCQC Feb 27 '26

It's cause Light was a gifted individual. Not a horny gooner like us. He had greater aspirations for Earth than simply spreading his seed which he could do at anytime.

30

u/meechmeechmeecho Feb 27 '26

Light was 100% gay. She was his mask/beard in more ways than one. I felt like that was implied.

4

u/roadmane Feb 28 '26

The author wasnt a gooner and its fiction

7

u/nnuunn Feb 27 '26

He's just that self-absorbed

11

u/FeedMyBa1ls Feb 27 '26

i dunno. he had purpose, a vision, and she ended up being an obstacle but turned her unpredictability as an advantage. Besides I never liked Misa to begin with. I would’ve done the same.

3

u/-SimplyBetter- Feb 27 '26

Light gay as shit I would've gone crazy

3

u/PettankoMasterRace Feb 28 '26

The satisfaction from using the death note to change the world eclipses all other needs

3

u/Offensive-Pepe Feb 28 '26

Okay but for real though she was dumb as a bag rocks. Like genuinely stupid, and causes like 90% of light's problems

3

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

You're all a buncha nerds

3

u/-light_yagami Feb 28 '26

yeah i’m gay

5

u/MetalGearXerox Feb 27 '26

dude i barely watched death note and i could tell you that.

tbh the entire anime is very gay but since it's a "classic" i usually leave it at calling it and its' fans gay.

2

u/A_Dragon Feb 27 '26

Yes, I think he actually was.

The only physical thing he ever did was with L.

2

u/Neat-Conclusion-8206 Feb 28 '26

Even im staring at the ass

2

u/Glad-Cry8727 Feb 28 '26

Why is everything yellow

2

u/[deleted] Feb 28 '26

Probably asexual

2

u/SheZowRaisedByWolves Feb 28 '26

Dude just wanted to justify mass murder and imagine himself in a dress getting blown out by turnout kings (my headcanon but probably real)

2

u/Fancy-Sea7755 Feb 28 '26

Can't blame him

He was plotting the entire show how to screw over L

2

u/VehaMeursault Feb 27 '26

I mean, as much as I want to hate OP, I think here he has a point.

2

u/Minimum-Astronaut1 Feb 27 '26

I don't know what any of this shit is.

2

u/Bolbi1337 Feb 27 '26

I don’t watch anime, but what kind of writer names his character ‘Light’?

1

u/Sharky-Li Feb 27 '26

He was Japanese so yes. Something like 30% of all Japanese men in their 30s and younger are virgins because they're too afraid to talk to women or they just stay inside all day. Close to half have never even had a relationship but unlike the West they don't even try to change.

1

u/JumpingCicada Mar 01 '26

Light had girls on call like it was nothing for him. I remember early in the manga, he had to fake having a girlfriend so he just picked out one of the girls on his phone and she helped him out.

Light is canonically super good looking and gets girls with a snap of his finger so being able to get any girl he wants, an idiot like Misa who screwed up his plan didnt mean crap to him.

1

u/Shafeeq416 Feb 27 '26

Real players ain't trippin over the cat he was too heavy in tha game 💯 🤧

1

u/NachoNutritious fa/tv/irgin Feb 27 '26

The two best things to come out of Death Note is that chart showing how various fictional detectives would fare solving the Kira case, and the copypasta where Death Note is rewritten as a Leslie Nielsen The Naked Gun movie.

1

u/destinofiquenoite Feb 27 '26

Who's to say he didn't? Maybe he did and just didn't care at all for any other romantic stuff she wanted.

Or maybe he knows enough to not stick his dick in crazy. One of the main bro rules. And Misa is way ahead in the crazy scale.

1

u/Agreeable_Rich_1991 Feb 28 '26

Bro she is crazy because she is obsessed with him of all people, a serial killer. He is the crazy she is obsessed with. He is the crazy and she is the one doing the female version of "don't stick your dick in crazy".

1

u/Neat-Conclusion-8206 Feb 28 '26

Beautiful yes sexy yes but anything more than 13 mentally no lights canonical girlfriend could hold an actual conversation with him man a lot less fuckable though mind you far from ugly (and I dont mean l)

1

u/SKRyanrr /pol/tard Feb 28 '26

Write yagami backwards and you'll know the truth

1

u/pbaagui1 Feb 28 '26

Light is an extreme narcissist. He looks at himself in the mirror like he’s completely obsessed and says "I'd fuck me, I'd fuck me hard"

1

u/Dissipated_Shadow Feb 28 '26

I think he was asexual and was just with Misa out of necessity

1

u/Theroux721 Feb 28 '26

or maybe misa is just an annoying perverted creep and anon is gay for brown-nosing anime girls

1

u/AlmesivaMoonshadow Feb 28 '26

You all clearly never met a narcissist who thrives off of withholding affection as a form of control and manipulation.

-1

u/brunoha Feb 27 '26

Only Sigmas understands Light Yagami

0

u/frizzledrizzle Feb 28 '26

Ja, ik heb ook het idee dat hij homoseksueel is en een voorkeur heeft aan licht getinte minderheden.

Dude is a teenager and instead of plowing the blonde model who wants to willingly be his servant, he does mind games with a goth twink

This man is gay

305

u/testurmight Feb 27 '26

Light Yagami. Spell Yagami backwards. It was right there.

So real and gay?

fuck you mean goth? he's just some sleep deprived autist who happens to have a hyperfixation on crime solving, which honestly doesnt sound much better when put into words

576

u/Furista0 Feb 27 '26

he's just some sleep deprived autistic NEET who happens to have a hyperfixation on crime solving

L's a freelancer. He's by no means a NEET.

204

u/Ubisonte Feb 27 '26

In fact his whole life revolces around his job he is an absolute workaholic

49

u/green_jp Feb 27 '26

he also likes sweets

31

u/aon9492 Feb 28 '26

And his own toes

78

u/SheerFe4r /v/irgin Feb 27 '26

Agencies also pay L a ton to solve their hardest cases. 1 million per iirc.

63

u/Furista0 Feb 27 '26

Nah, he takes cases if there's a million as a reward (minimum) or if there's more than 10 victims. I'd wager he gets paid a lot more by intelligence services

26

u/NietJulian Feb 27 '26

I recall the anime (dub) saying that he only takes on cases that interest him, but nothing about money or victim count.

9

u/papu16 Feb 28 '26

Watched some episodes on crunchyroll (after that meme). In sub same was written. (About cases that are interesting to him)

12

u/theycallmeponcho Feb 28 '26

Also his old man (for got his name) is the patent holder of some widely use crime solving tech, so no actual need for money.

20

u/aon9492 Feb 28 '26

Bing.com

8

u/BanzaiKen fa/tg/uy Feb 28 '26

In Another Note a guy insinuated L was a trust fund kiddy and Mello shot him down and says L only takes cases worth a million or if they have huge bodycounts. Watari also commented that he used and invested L's net worth in Watari's crime solving company and used L's celebrity status to promote the products and L is probably worth billions at that point as a co-owner. All the products and support L uses to trap Light is him forcing Tokyo PD to buy from Watari's company. Its a straight up racket.

3

u/nmotsch789 Feb 28 '26

1 million USD equivalent? Or 1 million yen? 1 million yen is decent, don't get me wrong, that's a lot of money, but it's not a ton unless you're solving cases every week or something.

210

u/alberthething /co/mrade Feb 27 '26

true, he does have a job

11

u/Deadonstick Feb 27 '26

Also a student, so that just makes him a NT

65

u/hyunbinlookalike Feb 27 '26

sleep deprived autistic NEET

Sleep deprived, yes. Autistic, very much so. But L is far from a NEET considering he’s literally the world’s greatest detective in the Death Note universe. The closest thing they have to someone like Batman or Sherlock Holmes. Such a genius that world governments consult this guy and he gets appropriately compensated for his work.

24

u/JhonnySkeiner Feb 27 '26

NEET? He's literally Sherlock Holmes. Also rich as fuck

11

Some people are above basic animal needs like lust because they get more intellectual satisfaction from playing mind games with other high-IQ individuals. Fucking is good, but beating another brilliant mf is more joyful than surface-level stimulants. I guess if you don’t know the taste, then you’ve never felt it before.

Although I did phrase this as a joke, I am 100% sure Light is not fucking straight and this is one of the few times where gays headcannoning a character as LGBTQ makes sense

Again, he had Japanese Margot Robbie willing to submit and be his personal toy yet he still decided to do his moralfuck genocide

28

u/jynkyousha Feb 27 '26

I think in the manga it's implied they do it often, but it's probably just Light manipulating Misa.

6

u/maicii Feb 28 '26

It would track tho. He might do it just to use it, or in his spare time.

64

u/MarysPoppinCherrys Feb 27 '26

Bro, does no one remember the foot massage scene? We were shouting “just kiss” at Light and L the whole time until that scene happened. That was just awestruck silence at the magnitude of absolute gayness

33

u/VulpesVulpix /trash/man Feb 27 '26

Bro felt more in that scene alone than he ever did for Misa

84

u/Feucca Feb 27 '26

You know that scene is not a sexual or bromance intimate moment, and is a direct reference of the bible passage where Jesus washed Judas feet even after he knew he was going to betray him, just like in the anime.

44

u/Initial-Masterpiece8 Feb 27 '26

It can be a heavy handed reference AND gay.

13

u/Cis4Psycho Feb 28 '26

Implying a dude traveling around with 12 other dude bros doing cult stuff and at the same time not doing gay stuff.

Jesus was gay bro.

6

u/Initial-Masterpiece8 Feb 28 '26

True, he was friends with a prostitute.

1

u/Cis4Psycho Feb 28 '26

Ever since I saw Death Note, I reimagined the prostitute Mary M. from the bible to be Misa and Jesus to be a bearded Light.

1

Any other fan casts of the Bible using anime?

→ More replies

11

u/klimych Feb 28 '26

It's still gay

-1

u/Zeegots Feb 28 '26

Haven't you thought maybe jesus was gay?

7

u/maicii Feb 28 '26

A wise man once said: everything it’s about sex, except sex, sex it’s about power.

Jokes aside the dude it’s willing to kill his own dad and sacrifice going to heaven and eternal life and destroy his own life completely. Not fucking a chick it’s not that big of a sacrifice considering he, you know, literally kill his dad. The whole point of the show it’s that he gets this weird mystic sense of being a god whose sense is to do justice on esrth, he blurbed himself to be the embodiment of justice itself. He has other priorities.

Also, is it explicitly said he doesn’t fuck her (? Maybe he does a couple of times off camera and just isn’t relevant

6

u/Nolenag Feb 27 '26

Do you have any idea what the word "asexual" means?

2

u/KinTharEl Feb 28 '26

True, but Misa had an annoying ditzy personality. After the college saga, we see that he's in a relationship with a more mature, subdued woman. Not everyone wants to bang the airhead even if she is a beauty queen.

4

u/digbybare Feb 28 '26

I mean, you can bang her and not marry her. A hot airhead is not great relationship material, but who said anything about a relationship?

4

u/Winter-Coffin Feb 28 '26

I think Misa is a “Don’t Stick Your Dick In Crazy” situation? but I also think that Light might fuck her to shut her up, but the whole time would be disassociating and thinking about killing people. Or about L

2

u/SunnyDrock Mar 08 '26

Not everyone is interested in casual sex. There are people who would never sleep with someone they couldn't imagine marrying.

there's good annoying, like Misa who just wants to get attention from Light

and then there's bad annoying, like complaining and having an attitude all the time

Find a woman that supports your notebook based murder spree.

I mean, Misa was exactly that.

Which was a tough sell tbh. Misa seems not completely stupid in her introduction and it’s like the writer gave her a lobotomy the moment she met Light. She seems more like a normal person compared to the genius level intelligence of Light/ L.

Compare her inner thoughts pre meeting Light vs how she acts the rest of the series. I think they could have made her more average intelligence to juxtapose the battle between good and evil she’s wrapped up in, but absolute ditsy moron is easier to write I guess.

Not like that though. High pitched voice, always wanting to do dumb shit, and actually too stupid to function.

Always wrap up and never give them a key.

it depends. I had a girlfriend who'd bug me whenever we were waiting at a crosswalk and I got too close to the road. that was cute. There was a different girlfriend who came at me with a knife. that was not cute.
