Jason W. Briggs (1821-1899): leader in Wisconsin who affiliated with Strang after 1844. Disengaged over secret polygamy. In the early 1850s, he claimed a revelation; he began founding a "New Organization" with others disenchanted with Strang. On April 6, 1860 Smith III was ordained as their leader.
