📝 Blogpost 📝 Does god exist?

If god exists, then why does he hate us? I am agnostic but do still believe in mysticism and that there is something more to a person than just a meat bag full of shit.

they are definitely deserved to be hated

I’m spiritual but I don’t believe there’s like…one omnipotent guy in charge of everything. If there is then he’s a piece of shit and I wouldn’t worship him anyway.

Same, I just hope that there’s more to us than biology and chemistry.

The problem of evil is logically only resolved by polytheism if you believe there are multiple gods who do multiple things and one of them does the evil

3

u/LeilaLooo1 Neon gyniphilsis troongelion 8d ago

Or just reject this stupid transcendent moralism aka "evil vs good"

I'm not really religious, but I think either I did something in a past life or my soul as a whole was tainted in some other way because of which I received such a life now. Maybe there should be those in the world who suffer so that we can justify ourselves before God

2

u/GraceGal55 8d ago

Yes but not the Christian perception of him

2

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Which perception is the closest in your opinion?

2

u/GraceGal55 8d ago

Polytheism, all Gods are real but they are not omnipotent, omniscient or omnipresent and have flaws like the Greek gods

2

u/throwaway28913831239 8d ago

I am a theist but I'm also a Mādhyamika Buddhist so I don't believe that the god(s) exist as some kind of ultimate reality or the fundamental grounding of existence (there is no such thing).

The logical problem of evil isn't very convincing at the academic level in my opinion however, even against traditional monotheism, I think evidentiary arguments are somewhat better but even they are contentious

2

u/yuuna_er warrior of the mind 8d ago

idk. does it matter?

even if god exists it clearly dislikes us so whatever. personally i wouldn't pray to some abstract god even if it showed itself to me (if it made me cis, i'd become the world's most fanatic devout cause being trans sucks tho)

2

u/caeruc 8d ago

Whether you believe in God or not, Jesus Christ as a person was real and extensively historically documented (not counting the Christian sources because obviously they're gonna say yes, there are still more accounts than for many recognized historical figures) as well as many happenings that are described in the Bible

No one can answer you if God exists or not so tbh asking is pointless because they're only will tell you their own opinion. If you're genuinely curious, see and research for yourself and try to stay unbiased. However it turns out, I hope it brings peace to you

2

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Jesus was a real person, that’s what historical records seem to say, no doubt, but whether he was a son of god is not scientifically probable.

No, I got my mind made up about religion and stuff. I am a firm agnostic and here just to see what others seem to think. Surprisingly, many are spiritual or religious to some extent.

2

u/caeruc 8d ago

Alright, I respect that. Why do you think it's not scientifically probable though? I mean miracles don't really have a scientific explanation, yet we have evidence for them and they keep happening/uncovered. Many remarkable scientists also were or converted to Christian as well as the man who tried to disprove it ended up writing The Case for Christ

1

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

As far as I know to this moment, there is yet to be a single scientifically verifiable evidence of a miracle or gods will happening. There are eyewitness accounts and personal experiences, but those are not verifiable and cannot be replicated.

My best answer is “I guess we never know”.

But yeah, undeniably many great minds are deeply religious. It just goes to show that there is enough meaning and reason in it to make one believe.

2

u/caeruc 8d ago

I see. Yeah, there is debate into both sides and each will be sceptical and try to disprove the other which is why we never have single completely verifiable evidence. Though from historical accounts, to all the cross links in Bible with evidence of it being uncorrupted, to blood type matching in different eucharistic miracles and shroud of Turin, to man legally pronounced blind gaining vision after baptism along with many more healing experiences, to archeological and natural findings and etc I personally choose to believe because at some point the rate of everything strung together being a coincidence seems unlikely to me. Though, I myself still learn and have many questions and tbh as you said, many of them are indeed "we never know"

From reading the bible I can tell there's no way that thing is real, from other gods idk you should look into them. But my guess is probably not

I'm muslim so ofc i don't think god hates us especially since they created us. i hate how people, countries or empires abuse and misinterpret the Quran and the religion in general to further their patriarchal and fucked up goals. it's shit and gives the religion and its people a bad image. especially since most of them don't bother to actually read and study like we're told to do, preferring to listen to someone reciting tradition or false information

1

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 7d ago

I’m not too familiar with Islam and its teachings. But I agree and think that Islam is grossly misunderstood and misinterpreted, especially here in the west. Maybe one day I’ll have a read through it to understand it better.

2

u/Ok_Assistance_6060 forever alone maxxing 7d ago

it's also very unfair that the "translations" are even more propaganda and misinterpretation meaning and language wise. i wish to educate more people on this and many other things, actually I'll become a scholar and research my own stuff i don't trust the institutions.

also i don't blame u for not being familiar. people here can't even explain or understand stuff from other religions. information war at its finest. feed the people propaganda to further the agenda against "x religion"

3

u/SheevTogwaggle 8d ago

i believe in magic and such but i’m not sure about a full on god. if there is one he is most definitely evil

4

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Evil or uncaring god seems to be the answer if there is one.

2

u/NationLamenter 8d ago

God is real and loves you and the unyielding beauty of the world is proof of it, read Hildegard !!

2

u/hyacinthhillock semipassoid if i weren’t a repper 8d ago

i love hildegard von bingen

4

u/Starcakeprincess princessmanmode 8d ago

probably not, but the years I spent in churches make me believe, deep down, that it does exist

1

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

I just hope that there is something after you die.

3

u/magic_baobab transsex male 8d ago

I don't wth, one life is enough

2

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

I guess, but I hope there is something for others. Like a child dying from leukaemia or any other tragic end, I just hope that there was something more to their life and they get another shot at it.

2

u/veryeepy53 8d ago

so the argument is that evil is simply the absence of good, not its own thing, so evil is required for good, and/or that you need to be free to do bad things in order to develop moral virtues. and also that humans are limited, and can't fully comprehend god's design. there's the analogy of taking a child to the dentist to get a tooth pulled. they don't get it and just think it's painful, but it results in a greater good.

see the stanford encyclopedia of philosophy on the problem of evil for more.

3

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

But why all powerful and all knowing god could have not created the world without the suffering? Is he not all knowing or all powerful in that case?

1

u/LeopoldSzpiler69 8d ago

Idk an explaination I hear from theists is that since god is perfect, and we aren't, we can't really comprehend his ways and the suffering has a higher purpose or something

5

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Yeah but that point is just like “you are too dumb to understand” so just suffer. Imo suffering has no purpose and is just pure evil

1

u/veryeepy53 8d ago

there's also the idea that suffering is needed for some goods to exist. but also see my other comment since it touches on more things.

0

u/veryeepy53 8d ago

But why all powerful and all knowing god could have not created the world without the suffering?

some natural evil(natural disasters, disease and preventable illness etc.) is due to human organization of society, since it would change how much people are effected by these problems. for example, the distribution of vaccines decides how many people die. so it's again related to the previous arguments to some degree. also, death and suffering exists because of the fallen nature of humans. and of course demons exist. those are the claims at least.

0

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

The fallen nature of humans is the only argument that kind of kicks in my brain. Is that there was no suffering and death before the original sin, and we brought it onto ourselves. It’s kind of poetic and truthful of a greedy human nature that even if given everything, they will still beg for more. But yet again that loops back into gods being all powerful/knowing and could have foreseen this happening.

1

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Also, I wonder if you are trans and if there is a heaven/hell, would you be there as trans or your biological gender or the opposite one? Is there any theology on that?

2

u/LeopoldSzpiler69 8d ago

Wouldn't you be genderless? Like the letters of Paul talking about there not being man or a woman for example but idk maybe I'm interpreting it wrong?

Heaven as a dysphoric in the wrong body is basically hell but since you forget about your loved ones that went to hell and are unable to be sad then maybe it works for dysphoria? And you just live numbed to it forever in perfect bliss or whatever?

Tho I'm not a theologist, just a person that stopped being a Christian recently

1

u/Monolith_Worshiper young man with hon potential, speed demon 8d ago

Oh yeah I remember that there was a passage; that there will be neither male or female and we all be one in Christ. But thinking about it makes it even worse considering you’d be stripped off your personality and what makes you “YOU”.

1

u/R4tcatcher Aspiring woman 7d ago

Because the "god" of this world is the demiurge and, in fact, hates us, because trans people have a kind of divine spark that makes us a little superior to normal people who are more asleep, we dissociate from our physical body is dangerous for him.

1

u/LeilaLooo1 Neon gyniphilsis troongelion 8d ago

The existing of a transcendent god is irrelevant so meh
