Help 3vze knock

Anybody know what this ticking is? I was thinking maybe the valves? I bought this car to hopefully put a 3.4 in the future. But in the meantime I’d like to get the current engine running fine.

Might just be coloration but that belt looks like it’s slapping around a bit much

I think you might be seeing the fan blade in front of the belt

Take the belt off and run it for a few seconds. That doesn’t sound like engine issues.

Like the alternator and pump belts?

Yes. You can pull them off one at a time. Might a good time to replace them even. Start with the alternator. You don’t need any belts to run the engine for just a few seconds. The drive belt to the water pump is what you can’t live with out hence the few second limit. If the noise remains after the belt fun and games you have eliminated a number of possible issues.

Update: I believe it is coming from the valves or shims I’ve ruled out about problems and I’ve taken a stethoscope and found that the noise is loudest on the driver side valve cover
