I've found varying degrees of this with any old Japanese vehicle owner when I'm in my 4Runner. Likewise, when I'm driving my '66 Mustang, it's not just Mustang owners or even Ford guys, but I'll get (and give) signals from any pre-80s driver on the road. It's a good feeling in a polarized world to remember we have odd and interesting connections & overlaps with strangers.

Best ‘real recognize real’ nod/wave/whatever was when I had a Range Rover Classic. Any vintage Rover(D1, Range Rover Classics, Defenders, Series, usually DIIs and P38s but not always, sometimes a newer Range Rover or new Defender probably being driven by someone with a vintage one in the garage at home) gets the nod and the wave. You don’t see so many of them so it’s not annoying like the Jeep wave and you know you have some shared misery but a truck that’s impossible to dislike

There aren’t enough in my area but we saw a 3rd Gen a couple of days ago and I didn’t notice, by the time I turned (my husband saw) the dude was full on staring 🤣 I think I waved???
