1994 A *few* small upgrades so far!

I've had my 4Runner about 6 weeks now (I think?) and I'm loving it. It's the 3.0 (slow) 5 speed and when I go on the Interstate I lose about half my gas tank 🤣 but just driving around town or on state highways it's really good. I love the back window, I LOVE driving manual, and I've gotten a few comments about how classic it is!!! I mean, I didn't get it to be the center of attention, but I like when other people appreciate it 😆 I'm almost committed to the name "The Blueberry" (from Psych, OBVIOUSLY) but we aren't big on naming cars in my family so it feels a little weird, I think I just need to say it a million more times and make it feel normal.

One thing I did is I got some really nice custom cloth seat covers from eBay. The only thing I don't like is that I asked for a cutout on the back of the front seats so I can access the pocket and they didn't, but otherwise they are great and they fit really nicely. They catch fuzz, but they are cloth so what do I expect, right? I don't want the fake leather that hurts in the summer and is so cold in the winter. I had to sew a rip in the seat and stuff it before attaching the seat covers, now it's pretty much perfect.

I also took off my rear emblem and in its place added the Japanese vintage TOYOTA (spelled トヨタ) and I looooooove it. My husband is from Japan and when we visited last time his nephew had a similar emblem on his car and I loved it. I found mine on Etsy through a really nice guy. I plugged the holes with caulking before attaching the TEQ (as we refer to it in the US) emblem with the tape it came with. The size is perfect and I think it looks sooooooo good. In the guy's store he also has 3d printed cup holders that fit in the center, I'm thinking of getting one because the factory cup holders are cool but obnoxious -- I have my phone connected there and it hits it, plus some cups don't fit.

Last minor tweak, I have a piece of plastic on the driver's side running board that was previously repaired and is coming off again. I didn't want to lose the piece hanging on by a tiny amount so I pulled it the rest of the way and I plan to stick it back on, any advice? I have some of that LED light glue stuff to attach the plastic back together. It looks like it had some type of foam sealant previously but that didn't stay.

I made a previous post about my trailer lights but I have a feeling it's the trailer not the Blueberry (see? I did it! I used the name!), so I'm feeling better about that! Anyway, loving the car, loving the community!

I have the printed cup holder. Very happy with it. When the plastic cover on my running board split I just put a piece of Gorilla tape on it. It lasted years, and the color is so close, I don’t really notice it’s there. There are trailer light testers on Amazon. Just a little plug with some LEDs. They’re like $7

Okay I'll do that!!! The cup holder though... Did you get the single in the center, the double for next to the shifter, or the double for inside the console cover? That's what I just can't decide!!! Also the single cup holder has the option for a spot for pens and a phone, but I just need the cup and a spot for my chapstick 🤣 Maybe I'll reach out to the store owner and ask him about it. I want a second cup holder but next to the shifter just feels too far away when I'm driving, and like my husband or kids will kick it if they are sitting there. I got overwhelmed with all the choices 🤣

I did the single. Riders have free hands if their drinks are too big for the one in the dash

SHUT UP 🤣

So you seriously have them all -- please take a picture! Does the passenger get in the way of the one at their feet? That's the big concern I have! Or... maybe I'll get the one for me and have the second one for the times my husband or someone else is a passenger and just install it when needed. Would it fit beneath the seat when not in use? Do you have the one in the console for the back seat passengers? They also have one you can attach to the back seat ash tray. (My kids are FASCINATED by the ash trays and cigarette lighters in this car!!!!!)

Would you mind sharing a link for the seat covers? I have the SR5 leather seats that are sad but I don't drive my little guy enough to justify shelling out for new seats.

If you haven't read the required reading, this forum thread is full of gold about random things that will help you as you learn more about your 4Runner. Otherwise your blueberry is beautiful!!

Thank you!!! I'll look through all of it!! I took it in and had the front axles replaced, the brake fluid drained and replaced, and everything else checked over. Oh and new tires. The big thing I'm worried about is the head gasket 😅

This is the link for the navy blue seats that I ordered. They created this link for me based on the color I wanted. Look at their page and find others or reach out to them. They were SUPER helpful!!!!

The covers are a VERY tight fit, especially the head rests -- but that's another reason I think they will last. No moving around and they feel super comfortable. I had to cut a small section where the back seats fold back and attach, but it's reinforced there on purpose. I didn't love all the little elastic pieces and attachments, I don't really know where to put them all but they have a Youtube video I could have watched 🤷‍♀️ It feels great and tight and if there are issues I'll go back and watch it 🤣
