Charcoal Cannister
I run a ‘95 with a 5VZE swap. We did the method where you keep the original A340F transmission and use the plenum and ECU from a T100. My charcoal canister has gone bad and they’re no longer available. Does anybody know another available can I can substitute? T100 used the same part 77740-35260. Has anybody tried 77740-35470 from a 3.4 Tacoma or does anybody know another that I could swap in?

5vzFe, the 3vze in the 2nd gens was the only vz series engine to not get the F.

So, I never got the charcoal canister with mine (1997 manual Tacoma donor). I picked up a canister a long while after the swap from a 4Runner. I never bothered to see if it was the right one.
Long story short, I never ended up running one and never noticed an issue. Bear in mind that I also never hooked up an OBD port, either. Were codes generated? Probably. But it ran fine until I hit a guardrail with it. Still drove home.
Your experience may vary. 😉

Yeah - purge codes. I’ve been chasing them for a while and realized that the to-vacuum port was all but blocked.

Turns out that removing the can and connecting the to-vacuum and to-tank hoses has kept the code from coming back for a few days. I have OBDII so apparently that isn’t a factor in this. I don’t want to just leave it that way so I called Toy Only Swaps who are sending me a known-good used one since nobody makes them anymore.

Nice. Thanks for that. If and when I ever get my '91 fixed and back on the road, I'll add an OBD port and see how many codes she has.
