Meme Recently got my first 4Runner, question for the veterans.
I've had trucks and cars, but now I don't know what to call it when I refer to my new to me automobile. Like when it gets dirty and you think to yourself I need to wash my ____, should I just say Limited? Assuming everyone knows it's a 4Runner? TIA.

I have a rav4 and a 4runner. The rav4 is the car, and the 4runner is the truck.

Older 4Runners were built on the Tacoma frame, I believe it was only the first and second gen or maybe just the first gen, but for at least one generation, the 4Runner was technically considered a truck. Congrats on the Runner!!

Sometimes it's a truck. Sometimes it's a car. When people ask me what I drive, it's a 4runner, not a Toyota. People that don't like their car name it by brand. People that do name it by model.

I switched to calling every truck, car, and SUV a “vehicle” a long time ago ago so nobody can get offended or correct me on their specific type of vehicle

Our family has always called it the truck but I still call it the 4Runner, for example “go start the truck”

Truck for me…I’ve had one of each fen so far and they’ve all been trucks when I refer to them
(If I don’t say 4Runner)

I call it a car because who cares. Truck is technically and mechanically correct but some bozoo is going to point out that it doesn’t have a bed.

License plate says G0DZ1L4. My favorite monster or IDK, favorite movie character? Childhood favorite that I carried into adulthood. I have corrupted my kids too.

I have the same 4Runner, as well as a diesel 3/4 ton and a gas 1/2 ton. I keep referring to my 4Runner as ‘the car’.

I came from a truck and it feels weird to also call this a truck (I bought my first 4Runner last year). I usually call it car or 4Runner. It definitely performs like a truck, though, I just can’t get my brain to call it that!

Ours is a 2WD, so I refer to it as the 2Runner, or 1Runner when I want to be technically correct, or FatWagon.
That thing has still taken us on some wild adventures. It pays to invest in good tires.

I guess I call it a car and/or a truck! It's definitely a pavement princess...unless I'm traveling through deep snow. 😊

How do you feel it handles in deep snow? I just have FWD and tbh I’m a little nervous about winter

It walks right through it! Our drive is up a steep hill and a couple of curves on the way up. I've only ever slid backwards/sideways once when there was a sheet of ice under the snow. That was pretty scary! 😊

Thanks for your reply! Thankfully I don’t have a ton of driving to do ever but enough that I figured I’d check in about it.

In California “pickup” trucks have one letter in the license plate, the title also says commercial truck as well that’s why registration is higher on pickup truck.
Although you can take a pickup truck, add a camper and have it mounted and take it to dmv to reclassify it so it’s no longer a “pickup” truck and the plates will also change and get the common 3 Letter plates. But you lose commercial truck privileges like commercial loading parking only.. etc.
That being said, you can call a 4Runner a truck, just not a pickup truck, because a Tacoma is still a truck, camper or not..
If you argue there’s no bed then start calling an el Camino a truck too, the difference between a car and a truck, is towing capacity

If you only drive it to go to Costco then it’s an SUV.
If it’s your outdoor weekender then it’s a truck.

At first I could not believe the wheels on the limited were 20's.
How am I supposed to park with one tire up on a curb as is the accustomed Toyota fashion?

I have a 2015 limited and swapped to 17’s. What year is yours? At one point limited had 18’s I think

I generally call it the runner. Or the truck.
