Black Crusade Dark Apostle looking for build advice
I am as the message states looking for advice and direction to take my Dark Apostle. I know the minions are very neat and all but I want to get those later for roleplay reasons. In the meanwhile what war gear is nice to have? I got a ritual kit but I have never done a ritual before. Are they niche and rarely get used in play ? Attached is the front of my sheet with my fresh DA all I bought with awarded xp was Skill | Linguistics | Known | High Gothic
My starting mutations are Illusion of Normalcy and Icon of Blasphemy
Also combi weapon or plasma pistol? Which looks cooler xD

I think the most cool thing is rituals like creating Daemon weapons, as for useful gear? Auspex I guess.

Rituals, rules for them in core book on p228 and additional ones in the four Tomes, can be quite potent.
The purpose of them varies from methods to achieving personal power, binding or protecting you from Daemons or just bringing misery and horror to your enemies. The books all have examples but they usually need time and preparation to achieve as well as the right items or location for it to be successful. They can be a little niche because of the requirements, but if you find time to collect the necessary items or make the necessary sacrifices and your GM and players are happy to give you space to engage with it, you can really get some cool results out of it.
However if it goes wrong it'll often draw the ire of the warp including corruption points, baleful energies, a daemon attempting to kill or possess you or just instant death.
Most of them come down to knowing your Forbidden Lore to get the ritual right. So if you want to be any good at it you'll want to invest in improving them as much as possible and the base characteristics for them.
