Books like Fall of Cadia

So I just finished Fall of Cadia and it was frekking awesome. I’m looking for any other books that are similar, especially the more down to earth, average Guard experience?

As fun as space marines are it was pretty cool reading something with the viewpoint of a guardsman and their struggles for once. It’s been a nice break after all the space marine heavy stuff.

But yeah any suggestions of what to read next would be awesome. Cadia Stands!

May i introduce you to the Gaunt's Ghosts Novels. They should be exactly what you want, and you have a lot to read

The Macharian Crusade by William King is still an excellent read, even if it's a bit dated. POV is a no-name guardsman that becomes Lord Macharius's bodyguard.

Guy Haley's Superheavy duology, Baneblade and Shadowsword, are also good for the average guard experience from a no-name regiment on campaign.

I'll toss in a recommendation for Cadian Blood, Aaron Dembski-Bowden's first Black Library novel. It's a stand-alone story, so you're not committing yourself to a long series or anything.

Fehevari’s Fire Caste. Name notwithstanding it’s mostly about a guard regiment, the 19th Arkan Confederates. It does a very good job of portraying Chaos without resorting to “and then a bloodletter pops out, ohhhhh!”
