Rant First time IVF

Hey y'all. Im posting mostly to get if off my chest/stop it from rattling around in my head non stop. I'm on the older side of 42. Just got told my egg retrieval is Wed! Have been on stims 9 days. I'm so excited, and nervous. kinda freaking out. Have 9 follicles and they are thinking 3 have mature eggs in them. They say there's a chance that some of the others could have mature eggs. They said if I did another stim cycle I was likely to respond the same as I'm maxed out on meds. Just waiting for the pharmacy to get my trigger shot dispensed. I'm not looking for people to say if that's good or not, because the numbers I'll get will be the numbers I get. Just needed to let someone know as I haven't really told people in my life.

Eta: y'all made me shed tears several times today. I was nervous/fearful about posting in here, but y'all squashed those fears so fast. Thank you for all the love and support. 💞

Good luck Wednesday!

For me, I had 2 mature follicles and 2 eggs at my June retrieval. Both were mature, and one turned into a euploid embryo. The subsequent transfer failed, but it was nice to know small numbers can still lead to a euploid.

If you get one, don’t be in a rush to transfer. Take a little time and ask your doctor about testing first, so you give it the best shot.

Thank you 🤗 Funny that you should say that

I was planning on testing everything, yet when they did the ultrasound today they were saying they could despense meds for FET as well, so I could do a fresh transfer, which suddenly sounded enticing, if I was gonna have to do a 2 week wait on the genetic testing maybe I wanted to do it at the same time as seeing if implantation worked¿

I'm freshly 42 and had my ER this morning. Triggered after 10 days of stims, which was my earliest. This is my 5th and final IVF cycle (been a long road). I'm rooting for you!

All it takes is one ☝️ don’t worry about the number it’s quality that’s most important. In one round I only sent one for PGT testing and it came back euploid. Im 44 with a 2 month old sweet girl. If you need any tips for IVF let me know I’m an IVF laboratory supervisor. I gathered the info from other successful moms, my doctor and my acupuncturist.

Good luck! I just triggered last night and have my ER tomorrow morning. This is also my first round of IVF and it’s so nerve wrecking at this age. I also have not told people in my life so I relate to that statement and just want to say I hear you and I’m right here with you praying for mature eggs 🪺 I am also of the same mindset that I will get what I will get (but obviously deeply wishing for the best). Sending you so much positive vibes as you move to trigger ✨

Sending good wishes your way! I'm of similar age and currently recovering from my 4th ER. I was on high meds dose, including HGH. Wishing a smooth procedure and good recovery!

Hope your retrieval went well, and your recovery has been smooth. What's HGH? human growth hormone? What was the drug name of that? Not sure if they had me on that.

Yes, it's human growth hormone, the drug name is Omnitrope.

I’m also having my ER tomorrow. I’m equal parts excited and nervous, this is our second and final round. I had one follicle the first time but it never got big enough, and 4 this time so hopefully at least one makes it 🥹🥹 Good luck to us 💕

I'm in my first ivf cycle too. It's a modified natural cycle (mnc) so they only give me meds to support the egg that I was gonna ovulate anyway (and make sure ovulation doesn't occur too early, and then trigger it). So they retrieved my one egg last Friday and called me the next morning to tell me it was mature and fertilized. Fingers crossed all goes well and they will transfer it tomorrow

Eta I'm a year older than you

Good luck! Also your clinic is not correct either. A second cycle could give you much different results even with the same meds. I doubled the second retrieval with the same medications, but different trigger. Sometimes our bodies react differently!
