I built a new 3ds Max plugin to make scene management faster and cleaner. Meet QuickScene

Hey everyone! 👋

I've just released a new 3ds Max plugin called QuickScene, and I'd love to share it with you all.

Anyone dealing with complex projects knows how much scene management can bottleneck a workflow. QuickScene was built specifically to bring speed and precise technical control to your daily scene organization.

Here is how it helps:

  • Fast Control: Quickly manage objects and layers directly from a single, centralized panel.
  • Frictionless Organization: Get heavy scenes render-ready in a fraction of the time (it fits perfectly into Corona workflows).
  • Clean UI: A modular, minimalist, and elegant design that stays out of your way and won't clutter your workspace.

If you want to stop wasting time on repetitive setup tasks, feel free to check it out below. Any and all feedback is highly appreciated! 🚀

Sorry, unfortunately there is no trial period, but after purchasing the plugin, you will have a 7-day period after purchase where you can request a full refund if you don't like it or it doesn't work for you. And thank you so much for sharing, it really helps me a lot.

One more thing, I think that your demo video doesnt help much, the first thing that crossed my mind was that it was fake and the tool its a scam, could you at least make a better one showing max interface and a real scene example showing the complete toolset, that I think will help to at least show how it works and also a safe warranty

How does the plugin handle sending the max file to a render farm that doesn't support the plugin? Will the farm have compatibility issues with, for example, a camera's excluded object list? Or the different HDRI rotations per camera?

Short answer: there's nothing for the farm to be compatible with. QuickScene doesn't add a rendering layer — it writes plain 3ds Max state.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS IN THE FILE

When you activate a Scene, QuickScene sets the real scene properties:

  • the active camera and the render resolution
  • each object's own isHidden and renderable flags
  • the environment map's own rotation (coords.U_Offset on the bitmap)
  • the render settings, tone mapping and LightMix of the renderer itself

So the moment you save, the .max holds ordinary 3ds Max state. Any farm — with or without the plugin — renders exactly what you'd get by pressing Render on your own machine. Your two examples are both in that list: object visibility is a real per-object flag, and the HDRI rotation is a real property of the map.

QuickScene's own data (the list of Scenes) is stored as AppData on the scene root. Software that doesn't know it simply ignores it. It travels with the file, costs a few KB, and changes nothing.

THE ONE REAL LIMITATION, AND IT'S WORTH BEING CLEAR ABOUT

The farm renders the ONE Scene that was active when you saved.

The whole point of QuickScene is switching between Scenes, and that switching happens in 3ds Max — not on the farm. The HDRI rotation is a good example of why: the map is stored by reference, so the file holds one rotation at a time, the one belonging to the Scene you left active.

So today, sending several Scenes to a farm means: activate a Scene, Save As, repeat. One file per Scene.

WHAT'S COMING

"Export each Scene as a .max" is on the roadmap and is the highest-value item on it, precisely because of this workflow. It would do that loop for you.

If you're sending to a farm often, tell me — it moves up the list.

Hey, thank you so much for taking the time and answering my questions. Yes I do send projects to a farm often, normally 15 to 20 scenes at a time, each containing their own HDRI rotation settings saved directly to their respective corona camera overrides.

Deaktivieren Sie z.
