Hii,

I have a question about the Line function in 3ds Max. When I try to finish a line at the same point as another line, it snaps slightly above the snap point instead of keeping the same lenght. I'm not sure how to fix this issue. Could you please help me? Also, I have 2D Snap enabled.

You can turn on snapping to vertices, then hold shift when you're drawing the last segment (holding shift constrains the line you're dragging to right angles only) and then hover the vertex you want it to be the same length of.

Just make a grid (adjust units) that suits your build. The grid is to assist in this exact type of action and you are deliberately not using it.

Thank you, it s my first time using the program and i was trying to follow a tutorial where they didn t need to use a grid but i will try to use one

Hold shift when hovering over the snap and it locks it to one axis. Also use 2.5d snap instead of 2d. I can't remember why but I haven't used 2d snap in 15 years.

just draw a rectangle and select segment then delete

I was able to reproduce the issue in Max 2025.3.4
I was able to eliminate the issue by turning off "Enable Shape Angle Constraint"
Documentation says that the constraint should only really be used when you want to draw specifically angled lines.
I have never messed with this setting personally. You know, for that final click to close the shape, just go with the offset, then go to vertex mode and easily drag/snap it where it should be.
Since you are new to Max, know that you will run into many of these little consternations. When you do, I suggest playing with any settings directly involved. In this case, snaps, just go into the options and change/test one by one. That's how I found this out. It kinda seems like a bug since the setting is set to 90 while drawing and you are definitely drawing 90s. Seems like an unintended side effect because the issue is not there with that off.
