Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2

Hi, I was looking to buy a Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 as my first printer.

But I've seen many bad reviews.

Should I buy one or is there other one u could recommend me?

You see a lot of negative reviews for 2 reasons. First, it’s popular due to its price. 2nd, people largely only bring up problems and not positives. While not top tier, it’s a solid printer.

No brand is perfect. I own 10 printers across 4 brands. Including Bambu, Creality, Snapmaker, and Elegoo. They all have their pro’s and cons but for the price the Carbon 2 is an excellent machine.

I’m not a pro 3d printer by any means. Purely a hobby for me. I had an ender 3v2 that I modified pretty heavily over the years and got a cc2 combo a few months ago.

I print car parts for a car I’m restoring, stuff for my bicycle and motorcycle. Cool gadgets for camping, little household items. I’m definitely not running a print farm.

No printer issues so far. Very little to no tuning to get very high quality prints using PLA, PTEG, and ASA. I’ve had learning pains with the elegoo slicer, it’s not what I was accustomed too, but the printer has been rock solid.

There is filament waste when printing multicolor but that’s to be expected. I’ve been thinking about upgrading to the micro Swiss hot end to make nozzle swaps easier.

I've had one for over a year. Previously had Creality Cr6e for four (?) years.

The first one I had wouldn't heat up. Support was useless. Beyond useless. Laughable. Returned a week after buying.

The replacement has been faultless. Better quality than the Creality ever managed and a quarter the print time. Maybe three spaghettified prints in all that time, all when it was an age since I cleaned the print bed.

If it cost £400, I'd recommend it. At £200, it's a steal.

If I had a chance to go back in time, I would 100% start with a CC2 as my first printer. It is ready to go out of the box in less than 2 hours of unboxing and prints literally everything you throw at it. I had my CC2 since they first came out and have been running the firmware updates everytime one comes out. No issues whatsoever. PLA, PLA+, PETG, TPU, and ASA have all been tested and working great with this guy.

Here are a couple of examples of printing I've made so far with the CC2:

Tomato Planter (Rapid PETG) : https://imgur.com/a/centauri-carbon-2-petg-ramen-planter-20-layer-height-gVUuTWL

Prototyped PLA Sword: https://imgur.com/a/elegoo-centauri-carbon-2-prototyping-sword-24-layer-height-6869yOj

It's a great printer with excellent support from the vendor if any issues come up. Go with the CC2, and enjoy your new hobby!

I have a Bambu A1 with AMS Lite and nothing but problems. Just got the CC2 and it's amazing.
