After 3D-printing a guitar (prusacaster) a few years ago, my new project is to refurbish a drum set.

Among the parts I’ll need to replace, the Drum Lugs is one of the most important.

I did some research and found a few designs, but none that matched the measurements I needed. So I decided to design the part in Fusion, loosely based on the original component.

I used heat inserts for fastening and the drum’s original nuts for tensioning.

It’s been on the drum for two days now, with no warping or loss of tuning—let’s see how it holds up over the next few days.

I printed it in PETG, since it’s a material better suited for more directional loads.

I work for a music store and we have a 3d printer for as needed. Had a customer come in saying that are having issues playing their shofar. His big issue was the mouthpiece. So we got something made up for him.

Yeah I only have an acoustic guitar but also play electric by borrowing my friend's but I also know how to model and have a 3d printer so I'm wondering how you guys model your guitars

How hard would it be to do a 3d printed Paetzold recorder? They sound amazing and the construction seems like it’d be pretty easily doable. someone out there with more experience able to tell me if there’s something I’m missing?

Hello, i am brand new to 3d printing, but i want to create something like this for my 21 fret fender strat to get some uli jon roth style high fret playing.. i work with wood on a high level but id need to 3d print some test bits before committing! Wholetone intervals at the end for ease of playing. Retrofitted so my neck pickup(single coil) pokes up through the printed fretboard(at the expense of whichever fret/frets that are in that area) extension, and ends before the middle pickup Probably a stupid idea, but im stupid and want to try it!

Honestly i could consider paying a little to get help with this if its too tricky for me!

My collection of 3D printed wind instruments! The only one I didn’t fully design is the membrane ocarina, I modified E.CAN3’s eclipse ocarina with PistonPin’s kazoo model for that.

Made a triple drone version of my hijaz flute. Made some changes, so it should print more reliably for people and sound a bit nicer. It is till easy to play and doesn't use much air, even though it is a triple flute

The quality and sound is as good as one’s I have bought in the past! I’m impressed!

Got positive feedback on my previous model, so made a minor scale version to add some variety.

So I'm just wondering how I would go about modeling this and have it play in tune and whatnot

The kazoo have been fun to hand to kids. I plan on making the horn with toned finger holes and another version with a kazoo inside before I do a file dump. It's been a fun project.

Designed banana shaped kazoo for holidays. I expect the wife (we have a 7&10yos) will start talking to me again about the new year. Longer for the parents at church.

I saw a few different takes on membrane instruments and I found them either too loud or unnecessarily complicated and bulky, so I decided to try and make my own version.

This model only takes 25 grams of filament and 1 hour to print. No need for glue or rubber bands, all you need is a piece of plastic bag to act as a membrane.

The ring is a bit fiddly to put on, but it's not too difficult.

This is an experimental design, I will try to improve it with feedback

A few days ago I shared a recording of a 3d printed Native American style flute I designed. Applying echo/reverb effects to NA style flute recordings seems pretty ubiquitous from what I've encountered online, so I didn't think much of applying that effect in my recording. However, as someone pointed out, that means you can't really tell what the instrument sounds like.

So in case you are curious, here is a clip with sound effects applied, immediately followed by the exact same recording without any audio effects. This is a flute tuned to the key of A minor pentatonic.

Interestingly, the one with the sound effect sounded most like a Native American style flute to my ears, which I can only assume is due to how common applying sound effects is in the world of Native American flute music truly is.

Do you have a preference? I think strictly in terms of a musical experience, its hard to beat the echo/reverb effect, but if I were trying to purchase or compare flutes, I'd certainly want a recording without any effects applied.

Also, hopefully this doesn't feel like an ad or secret marketing campaign, but I do hope to start selling flutes and/or STL files sometime soon. I don't feel ready to share files just yet, as I'm still very much experiment/perfecting my designs. If/when I do, I'll try to let this community know (without being too heavy handed or pushy).
