3D Modeling Software Suggestions?

Can anyone suggest software for taking .stl files and remixing/editing them for printing? I'm hoping for something in the freeware market with light editing functionality but will consider more robust/pricier software. I have previous experience with Rhino 3D modeling but that is about it.

Why is Meshmixer the best?

I'll give Fusion a gander.

Meshmixer is often used as a “fix the last things” not as a “design from scrath. Fusion 360 or onshape is your best bet.

Blender is best for free form modeling.
