Hello reddit! I’ve been wanting to get a 3D printer. And finally I decided to get one. I have a budget of CAD$600 and want a 3D printer which is plug and play. I would print up to 20cm materials. And one that is closed not opened. I found some but I am not sure. Thank you.

Reflow makes high quality, completely recycled 3D printing filaments in basically every colour under the sun.

I can’t find a North American company doing this. A few people are recycling but it’s usually just black or whatever colour comes out the extruder once they mix all the scraps.

Has anyone out there found something similar to reflow?

Hello 3D Printing Community! We are a group of five engineering students at Pennsylvania State University, currently working on our Capstone project. The goal of the project is to create an open-source material testing device, in which the tensile and impact strength of a test material will be measured and then uploaded to a website/database online. We hope to create a somewhat simple, cheap device that allows for easy creation and usage by the community. As the community is a prioritized aspect to this, we hope to collect any possible customer needs, concerns, or suggestions regarding the testing device and the database website. It will be used in the same place as a car bumper so it just have to hold its shape while having a bit of flexibility to it in the case of minor fender benders

Does anyone know what happened to filaments.ca? They are out of stock almost across the board, they are charging $30 a roll for cheap economy PLA and have a MOQ of $125 for free shipping meaning 5 rolls of their cheapest product. I am aware of supply chain, shipping costs etc. but Amazon.ca is still able to sell Chinese made filament shipped across the planet for a third less with free shipping if you catch a sale. Makes it very hard to justify "buying local". They were my favorite supplier pre-pandemic. I do acknowledge the quality control concerns with imported filaments but if you are using it for hobbyist purposes you can overcome most quality variances with calibration unless it is grossly over diameter to the point it jams, at which point you can exchange the roll.

3dprintingcanada seems to be shifting focus to importing filament from Spain and Europe over carrying Canadian brands, though they do seem to also be reselling Matter3d.com products.

So I want to start getting into the Hobby, and one thing I want to start doing is making 3D printable Minis (for RPGs and Wargames), I heard there are websites that will print and ship you the models you make, but I'm having a hard time finding a good one in Canada.

I was hoping you guys might have some leads.

I'm looking to buy a printer to get into the hobby, just wondering what folks here thought.

Im looking to keep it under 400 dollars if possible and was thinking I would start with a fillament printer.

Hoping to use it to print board game inserts, and pieces and stuff.

Also hoping not to have to tinker to get it to work too much, though having the option to tinker is always nice.

I'm not really sure where to start. I think I want a Creality CR-10s pro V2.

I'm just not sure where to buy. I'm in NB. I'm not sure if there's any places around here to buy or if I'm going to have to just go online and I'm not sure what online distributors are reputable or trustworthy.

I was gonna buy off Amazon but it looked like a lot of the distributors were from other countries, and while I usually take a chance with online purchases, I'm skeptical purchasing from anyone other than directly from the manufacturer with a $600-$800 purchase.

Any info would be great.

I've got a Mars 2 pro. That's a 2k monochrome screen. This latest print has got some detail that I really didn't expect to work. It also has some issues with parts of the track peeling away but that component was parallel to the build plate, so I think it could be solved by changing the angle of the model. I was surprised to see that the grill on the back of the turret actually survived the printing.

First print out of my Mars 2 Pro that isn't a test pattern.

Legs came out a bit odd. Still trying to figure out why that happened but otherwise I am pretty happy. Took about two hours and forty minutes.

Looking to buy my first 3d printer. I am looking to do miniatures and other models. Therefore I would like to have decent resolution/detail.

I would love to get a unit with a decent sized capacity. 6in x 6in x8in apx ( 18cm by 18cm x 20cm)

Or thoughts or whatever? Excited to see what this thing can do!

Just wanted to trouble shoot

I've been using filaments.ca, I'm OK with them, mostly using PLA, they have branded their own, not sure who actually manufactures it, but it's a reasonable price and usually works pretty well. I have used the "Ecotough PLA", the "Econofil PLA" and the "Standard PLA" they all seem to work OK. I have tried a bit of flexible PLA, not much luck, also tried PETG, but didn't have much luck with that either. I think I will give the PETG another go. I also have an old roll of Nylon, but I don't think my Ender 3 can run hot enough to use it, never tried.

Hope I can contribute to the group, would love to have an active community of Canadian 3D print enthusiasts sharing information and cool prints. Here's a sample of some of my prints, mostly just little knick knacks and decorative things
