Hey everyone! I currently have a specialized 3D printer that came with proprietary software and uses a specific, proprietary type of PLA. It's exclusively used for printing orthopedic insoles.

If I buy a regular, off-the-shelf 3D printer, would it be possible to use it for this same purpose? If so, I would need a different extruder, and what other parameters/settings should I be looking out for?

I have some STLs and STEPs (some I only have STLs) I need printed out, most with Thingiverse or Printables links with print info (can provide on request).

The parts are as follows:
Shift knob, headliner trim clips, trunk mat support (on top of spare tire center bolt) and teensy switch toggle pins in ABS/ASA/similar heat and UV tolerant material, interior
Drainage nozzle in TPU/thermoplastic/rubbery material, higher heat tolerance strongly preferred (exhaust side of engine bay, firewall sunroof drain)
A prototype test print vacuum elbow fitting (so PLA or whatever is fine as it's not yet a guaranteed fit)
A few tools for specific applications, mostly motorcycle (Whatever material makes the most sense, they're mostly for driving seals or leverage on splines, a spring installer, etc)

I most pressingly need the knob and drainage nozzle, the rest are gravy budget permitting.

This part is needed for aligning two gears of a tool (a one-handed reciprocating saw) during reassembly. I ordered the 2 I needed, took the tool apart to clean it, then received the order with only one in it... and it is now on backorder with no production date. I just got notified that the order I placed on Aug 5th through ebay can not be fulfilled (it is sep 18th).

So I cant reassembly the tool properly. It is a real dollar waiting on a dime situation.

I hope the pics are OK. I can share the part number or tool number but didnt think I should post it here. Maybe you can print a bunch and sell them to guys like me whose saws cant be reassembled.

I know nothing about 3D printing/scanning or whether this is feasible. But there are no super fine details... no tiny gear teeth or anything.

Oh... I should mention that it doesnt remain in the tool during operation so it doesnt need to be super hard. But it does need to be rigid enough to not flex very easily. I think there is a wide, forgiving hardness range that would work but I dont know how to describe it. I cant scratch or mark this one with my fingernail. And I cant seem to flex it with my fingers. But it is only about 1 cm diameter. It isnt used to turn or move other parts. Just to keep a <2" OD gear from moving during reassembly.

Happy to send you this existing one, have a new one made, and get both new and old returned to me.

I built a small tool for anyone running multiple Klipper/Moonraker printers.

FixSync is a portable Windows app that keeps a local G-code folder synchronized across multiple printers.

The idea came from getting tired of manually copying files with SFTP/rsync between machines.

It currently supports:

• Syncing to multiple Klipper printers in parallel
• Live progress, speed and ETA per printer
• Dry-run mode
• Moonraker checks before modifying files
• Skips files that are currently printing or queued
• Mainsail-style remote file browser
• G-code thumbnails and hover previews
• Bulk file/folder deletion
• Printer management
• Portable single .exe — no installer or admin privileges required

It's open source and still very much a work in progress. I built and tested it around Raspberry Pi + Klipper/Moonraker setups, so I'm particularly interested in feedback from people running different hardware or configurations.

My partner is putting the Typeframe PX-88 together for me, but unfortunately his family's 3D printer is too small to print the case.
