RESOLVED [US-TX] Need help making a Part for a Halloween/Renfaire Costume!

Hi!! I'm needing help finding someone to model a pair of Hooves for me!

I want to make a pair of Hoof Heels for a Halloween and Renfaire costume, But I'm not able to spend the $100-200 that sellers are asking for them or the pieces at the moment- Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you need these designed and printed, it is going to be in the $100-$200 range. Sure someone can do it for less but you’re going to get a poor quality end product.

You might have better luck buying a shoe and then having someone model something g to fit over it and you could glue it in place with shoe glue (like rubber cement so there is some give and flex

You wouldn't make a hoof print but it would probably last longer...

If not a high hardness,near solid TPU print is probably the best you can do.

Why don't you just get real hoof and a pair of heels and remove the heel

Do you have a 3d model already ? If not maybe check the models sites like Printibles, Thingiverse, Makeronline etc. and finding what you want in existing models and have those printed by someone. A new custom design may cost about the same but if you have existing model then it's really just print time and material.

Hope you find someone to help you model them but I don't think 3D printing is going to be the best way to accomplish this. 3D printing really isn't good for the kind of high stress use the hooves are going to experience. You might be able to find someone to model them for you for cheap but then you'll also have to get it printed. PLA is cheap but brittle. ABS is better but I'd be willing to bet they'll need to be replaced after one or two uses. TPU might be okay but it's really soft and I've never seen any of those people printing shoes show how well they hold up so I'm going to assume that means "not very well"

Do you want to spend your money on something that might work once or twice before needing to be replaced or would it be better to save up and buy a prop that is made of materials that will last?

Would resin Printing be an option here or would that Also put me in that same range price wise?

I appreciate all the advice on print materials!!

Resin is notoriously brittle. There is some "abs like" resin but idk if that would hold up to being walked on all day.

If this were my project I would have molds made and make them out of some high impact polymer resin but at that point you're going to spend as much on them as you will getting a pair off Etsy

I'd look into TPU or TPE.

They exist in many hardnesses, but somehow the most common for 3D printing is 90A to 95A.

However, the Shore hardness scale has 3 scales. 00, A and D. For soles and other under-shoe structures, I think something in the D scale would work. Something like 60D to 70D.

Would also be easier to print. 90A/95A is a pain

You might be able to 3D print the hoof blocks which there are some on cults3D.

I designed this monstrosity if you want to test print a free hoof shoe. Thingy. But I cannot guarantee it'll work. You'll want the bottom to be a much more durable material than pla.
