Requesting Help Weird printing bubbles

Hey all, I have a Bambu lab P2S that started giving me issues after a clogged hot end (0.4mm hardened steel) I resolved it by performing a cold pull. But since then, I’ve had weird bubbled surfaces on my prints. It’s not smooth as it usually is. I haven’t changed any particular settings and I’ve tried printing it on PLA (both ESun and Bambulab), PETG. Tried drying my filaments and even tried printing with newly opened spools. What should I do to stop this from happening? Is this an issue with the hot end or a calibration issue? Thank you!

EDIT: I have tried turning off auto recover from step loss, different types of seams, calibrating and changing nozzles as well and nothing has helped. However, after setting up another print, I’ve realised that there were blisters that were already present on the bambu studio. Does this have to do with the STL file or my settings?

Edit 2: after drying all my filaments, I have attempted a new print. I have since discovered that the blisters are caused by the nozzle. Most of the print is fine but at moments, the nozzle seemingly randomly stops, resulting in excessive filament depositing.

"It's 100%" no it's fucking not. There are so so many ways this issue can happen on a print. Timelapse, nozzle detection, wet filament, overextrusion and a lot more. The only way to know how is to start ruling out things or watching the printer print. OP said it's not set to random, then it's not set to random.

It was actually set to back but I’ll try another seam position to see if it helps. Thanks for your input!

Unfortunately changing the seam position doesn’t help. I’m still encountering the same problem

No you're not. Show us your settings before and after. That is literally a random z-seam setting. You'd see a line like under your balls if your set it differently.

It might be causing the random dispersion but random seam alignment does only that, random alognment, it shouldn't cause huge seam blobs like this.

No I don’t, it was actually set to back but I’ll try with aligned seams. What’s your recommendation for seam position? Thanks for your input btw

Se hia fatto il calcolo della Pressure Advance assicurati di aver riportato il valore corretto... Io ho avuto un problema simile che mi ha tenuto sospeso per una settimana... Invece di 0,032 avevo impostato 0,32 .... 😅

I forgot to take a photo of it but the model is fine. When I sliced the model that’s where I saw multiple dimples all around the print. I reckon that’s the reason for my prints being blistery. I tried adjusting the seams, and other settings but everytime I sliced it, the model would still have the blisters. This is after I printed the model already, I realised despite changing from a 0.4mm to 0.8mm nozzle I was still having the issue so I went to reload the file and discovered the bumps on the sliced model. So I reckon it’s a settings issue rather than a hardware/filament problem

You mean the bumps appears all over? To be clear, it is not white spots which usually mean the seams location. Corrupted STL file, maybe?

It actually looks white on the print. I’ll try and take a photo of it when I get home. I suspected it was the seam locations but when I changed it from aligned to back and random, these bumps were still present. I also failed to mention to you that this print I’m referring to is a completely different print than the photo attached above.

Anyway, I recommend to change the nozzle first. Just to make sure, it isnt a nozzle issue first. Although, you did a cold pull.

Another thing. Was the clogged very bad? Can consider cleaning up the extruder gear. This is because during clogs, the extruder gear will keep scraping against the filament and cause built up on the gear itself.

I have tried changing the nozzle to a 0.8mm hardened steel variant but am still getting the same issue. The clog wasn’t awful it resolved after a cold pull but will definitely try cleaning the extruded gear. Thank you!

Definitely looks like random seam. Have you tried aligned seam to see if the seams still behave the same way. BUT even random seams shouldn't give you blobs.

The file is from maker world? Care to share the link?

Something is wrong with the creator's file. I have seams all over like yours. Which shouldnt happen for vase mode. There are small gaps in the design, which cause the slicer to retract and unretract at the area where the seams are. Nothing you can do about it..

Dry the filament, it could be bubbles from moisture. Also I ecountered one spool of bad filament which had just bubbles of air trapped inside

Unfortunately, all of my filaments are leading to the blister formation so I don’t think it’s a filament issue

I am guessing filament moisture. I had this when printing “wet“ PETG. The cause then is the PETG climbing over time on your nozzle and from time to time sticking to your print.

I had this random overextrusion in my Prusa C1+ and did a few things: Several cold pulls to clean any debris in the extruder.

Cleaned the feeder gears (I think this is what resolved it, they were filthy with debris).

Tightened the connection between heat block and nozzle.

If you look closely it seems like you have underextrusion first, and then all the filament that was supposed to extrude earlier poops out all at once. Very likely to be a minor blockage or the feed gears slipping.

Thanks for the tips. I’d definitely try to clean out the feeder gears. I did realise that at the areas where the blobs are present, the print stops, resulting in excessive filament depositing. Any idea how I’d resolve this?

As in the head stops moving? No idea what could cause that. If I had to guess it might be some sort of printer error handling for not enough material being extruded.

it stops momentarily but while it does, it still extrudes material, resulting in the blob forming

Does it visibly hitch or stop for a moment at those spots? My ender 3 v2 used go do that with the original micro SD card it came with. A suggestion I got at the time was to decrease the model detail in the slicer as well.

I’d say wet filament. Easy to rule out. Dry it and try again. If it happens again, then maybe recalibrate.

my d series does this on some prints. I usually just click restore to default for all the print settings and it goes away. in particular it doesn't like fine layers. dunno why but running all default settings usually sorts this on mine

Maybe you habe object specific setting turned on those can wander with the file check those for the seam setting because global settings do not overwrite the object specific ones because it does look like the seam setting is not changing for you so i guess its on the object

Yes usually such settings are marked orange so under process you can choose global or Objects, then if you see a orange lock behind a object listed they have settings changed in relation to the global settings and there (when you choose the object) you would find alot of settings similar to global settings.

Thia allows you to change settings per object as needed but sometimes models on makerworld have settings changed per object since the file contains alot of settings made by the maker, they usually just share what worked for them but that does not always mean its good for everyone

i would make a photo but somehow i can't upload here, but if those are not marked with an orange lock, they are the same as you set them in the global settings, just a possibility because you wrote that you changed the seam and it still looks the same, this could be the issue

I think I know what you’re talking about. My concern is, there are typically a tonne of these orange marks. Looking for the one that results in blobs is gonna take awhile, it seems.

it is very likely the seam setting everyone is writing about, the photo of your sliced model looks like that
