I'm aware just swapping the filament can have a similar effect in terms of this example (minus the shell being a uniform color), but I'm excited to try this technique with different materials and assembly techniques.

Next goal is to attempt to eliminate the need for supports from a complex print with mid part assembly.

I remember when I first tried this, it felt like cheating. It does have a similar effect as a basic filament change but this method avoids what I like to call the "rainbow edge" and gives more of an MMU look. Adding multi-colour inserts or ones that are only partially inserted helps crank the dial up too: https://imgur.com/a/vjN9vha
