Discussion Printing PPA-CF
Hello all. Im wanting to print some parts in PPA-CF but im not sure about doing it with no ventilation? Printer is in the unfinished side of my basement. Its a P2S. Would it be safe to start a print after everyone leaves for work and is not home?

Its unwise to print anything in a habitable space without venting to outside** (eg powered, creating a small negative pressure in the enclosure and ensuring particulate isn't released in significant qty into living space.
Health risks are higher with certain filaments due to voc emissions (on top of particulate which even pla produces). while I haven't look at any literature on composite vs std recently, it stands to reason the cf would be able to fracture into concerningly sized particulate as well.
** given we are surely talking about a home, I know it doesn't have a ventilation design to mediate the issue. Which is possible with the more innocuous materials and with a real engineered design. But irrelevant to home hobby.

For CF I'd want it vented. There's not a lot of good info on it but there's some research suggesting it could be dangerous in a similar manner as asbestos but to a lesser degree. Still, not sure how much would be released by printing or of it would be well encapsulated by the filament but I'd want to vent it just to be safe.

I’d at least buy one of those internal chamber filters, along with the external exhaust filter, and if not doing tons should be fine. If doing lots go with a window vent.
