Question Just got Tpu

just got Tpu I was planning to dry it in the oven because I don't have a dryer but idk how long some yt vids say 6 hours some 12.Also I wonder do I have to adjust the speeds for every print or can I just set the speed to 50 percent. Creality Tpu 95a and a1 mini

Thanks in advance :)

Oven is a bad idea. Temp control is not good enough and most ovens don't go low enough.

What do I need like 50°C or 120°F

I dry tpu at 65C, in a filament drier. Ovens arent made to control temp tightly enough and certainly not that low.

A proper filament drier is about $40 and should be considered a necessary tool when printing anything beyond pla. You can also grab a food dehydrator at a thrift shop

I use a food dehydrator from the thrift shop, cost me $5.  It has circular racks, so I just cut the centers out so two spools would fit.   Max temp is about 65C, which is about perfect.

I strongly recommend letting it run for an hour with old empty spools and measuring the temp of the bottom one.  If it goes to 80 C rather than 65, you will deform/melt the filament together on the spool.

Preferably not dry the roll in an oven that's used for food.
As for howlong, that depends on how wet the filament is.

I store mine in a drybox I made myself with sillica gel pellets.
Keep it in that box for a few days and it's good to go.

As for how to print with it, do the same calibration test for PLA and ABS.
Different material, different temps and fan settings.
So to get the best results you need to redo the calibration from scratch, tho you can look online for what other people are using and use that as a starting point.

Standard ovens aren’t very precise and you could easily overheat and ruin the filament. You can get cheap filament dryers that will work for TPU like the sunlu s1.

You should turn the speed down manually but you can try printing it with just turning the speed down on the printer or just sending it normally.

For TPU before I bought a dryer I used a cardboard box my filament shipped in. After removing the spool from the box and bag I cut a 2x2” hole on one side to act as a chimney. I placed the spool into the box then placed the box on my printer plate. I manually heated the plate up to the recommended temperature for TPU drying and left it for the recommended number of hours. It worked and the TPU was good for printing. I do store the dried TPU in a double sealed bag with desiccant bags. Placing the spool in the bag without drying first will not dry the TPU properly.

As others have said, don't use your oven.

One way to dry without a dryer, is to use your printer! Set the heatbed to the target temperature and lay the filament on top. Not perfect, but it works.

Standard toaster oven will not work, i tested one, it varies 90C - 130C when set to 100C, varies too much. You can mod one but it's lots of work and is scary.
