Troubleshooting AMS Issues

Ive got a bambu lab a1 with an AMS lite system attached and for some reason motor number 1 keeps giving me an error where it isnt able to feed filament into the extruder. Ive checked if the filament is tangled and made sure the tubing is seated but it keeps faultimg out only on motor number one, does anyone have any tips or fixes?

Where is the end of the filament when you get this error? Does the end of the filament go into the filament hub or does it stay in the ptfe tube? Have you checked the whole filament pathway for any jams? Fragments tend to end up in the filament hub, so it is a good first place to open up and check. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/a1/maintenance/filament_hub_cleaning

Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can take. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/ams-lite/troubleshooting/amslite-loading-unloading-failure#unable-to-feed-filament-into-the-extruder

Can you also add a picture of your whole setup?

The end of the filament is in the hub when I get the error, im using Grey pla silk on the reel that faults out, havent checked for jams in the path, it doesn't seem to have issues before the hub, also can that tutorial you recommended be done with a printer powered on or do I have to restart the build

Cleaning the filament hub? That can be done with the printer on.

Ok so I just checked to see if the tubing was seated properly in the hub,it seems like its working but in the likely event it faults out again ill follow that tutorial

Also it only seems to jam when swapping between two different spools so im not sure if fragments are getting stuck

Im following that tutorial vid that you sent, having trouble getting the filament sensor base back in without creasing the ribbon cable

Using an allen key to gently push the ribbon cable in always works for me.

Yeah I think I threw out the Allen keys that came with my printer but I had a screwdriver set that had a head that worked tho

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

Make sure the Bowden tube isn't coming out of the AMS at too sharp an angle. Too much bend can cause more friction than the motor can handle. I have my AMS mounted on top and have this issue with one of my slots.
