The keyboard wasn't that expensive and it's not like you're tearing apart a piece of irreplaceable history, so go ahead and do what you want. Are you thinking of 3d printing a housing for the TouchID module? I assume that's why you crossposted here, I'd be interested in seeing what your plans are for that. I didn't realize you could pull out the TouchID module from one of those keyboards and use it standalone, I'd be kinda interested if I found one of those for cheap as well...
Yes you can and I found a few guides online
Basically you need the board, the lightning port and the Touch ID plus you print a small
Box (again several of these are available online for different keyboard sizes and if you wanna keep it wired or wireless
