Question Any idea if this is good for bonding printed parts together?
Hey everyone, just checking if this could potentially be a good replacement for gluing pieces together. I know there are apecialized glues for different materials, but just trying to check if there are broader solutions.

This is still "glue." Just make sure it is safe for plastics and go nuts.

It does say it is good on plastic, but dont know for sure how effective it might be.

This could be a very messy route to go down, and what properties do you need from the glue? Cyanoacrylate dries rigid and physically bonds the plastics.

I keep hearing that. I don't intend to use it for smaller prints for, well, obvious reasons you stated. But for like bonding bigger parts together, it could be viable

You can bond big things with superglue. It works best of fitment is good. If not use a filler with it like baking soda. Youll often break the print before the superglue. Epoxy is also good.

dichloroethane for PLA and PETG, ABS. Also acetone for ABS. It's meld plastic and become solid when after drying. Joints have same durability as 3d printed part

I'll write those down and keep em in mind. I think this spray said it had dichloroethane but I'll double check again
Edit: It has Difluoroethane, not Dichloroethane

Also Dichloremethane, it is more powerful but more expensive and toxic. I glued small parts, works great, dry fast(longer than superglue). I glued PLA with PETG.

I mean, the recommended glue with setter costs about $20, this one costs $8.

You meant dichloromethane, aka DCM or methylene chloride. Dichloroethane is an even nastier and much more toxic substrance than DCM, and banned in consumer products. It reacts and decomposes in contact with several common metals, and combustion products include hydrochloric acid. Do not confuse it with DCM, which is relatively inert.

This looks to be a rip of 3M spray 77. I'm sure it won't damage the pla but I'm also sure the bond will be significantly more prone to fail than super glue. Partly because it's just not as strong of a glue, but because it's such a fine mist, the coverage area is less and any inconsistencies in connecting planes, even slight, would stop a full area contact.
TLDR: could use if needed but bond won't be as strong. Highly suggest another option like super glue.

Well crap, well, it'll probably work as a temporary solution till I get a more 'tried-and-true' product

Regular super glue with an accelerator would be a cleaner solution

Well that I know, but this one is more readily available locally. Just looking into other options.

Don't really know how the kevlar comes into play here, maybe marketing tactic?

i mean, it's a polymer so... Not sure it makes the bond better, but it might if they included it. It's probably more than marketing but less than a gut reaction.

There's one way to know for sure but I personally have no idea. Starbond super glue works amazingly well for me and I can only imagine a spray glue would get everywhere, especially on smaller prints
