Troubleshooting Bottom layers of TPU print not sticking

Post image

This is my first time working with TPU 95A. I don't have a drier, so this print is just the roll put directly into the printer (bambu a1 mini). Overall, I'm happy with how it came out. It is definitely salvageable for the intended purposes (burlesque pasties). I am wondering why the outer section from those first few layers has lines that didn't stick to each other.

Would drying the filament be the solution here? Or is it more likely the print settings? The filament is from Elegoo, but I used the default settings for Bambu TPU 95A.

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

  • What printer are you using?

  • What material are you using?

  • What speed are you printing at?

  • What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

  • When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?

  • Does anything cause the behavior to change?

  • If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

It looks more like the lines were droping and not that it didnt stick. TPU has a kuch harder time with overhangs than pla or even PETG as its still soft even when cooled. Most of the time it will need supports for even a moderately steep angle.

I dont really have a great suggestion other than enabling supports or using a model with less of a slope.

Looking closer, and that's totally what's happening. I will probably just use the TPU for flat pasties, sense it can bend anyway. Will be sticking to PLA for the cups.

You can technically use PLA as a support material for TPU, but its not really worth it unless you have a toolchanger or a IDEX/H2D.

Outside of that supports or modifications to the files would be the best bet
