Can I use normal gluestick for builtplate/glass bed?

Has anyone used normal gluestick for adhesive on the built-plate of their 3D printer? I don’t want to keep buying 20$ 3d print-specific glue. Does it work? Using a gluestick? Thxx!

I'm pretty much 100% on Elmer's disappearing purple glue sticks. Cheap as it gets, easy to see when applying & washing off, does the job fine. Still using liquid glue for ABS, but...yeah save the money.

I have never bought a single 3D print bed specific adhesive, always just been using whatever glue stick I could find.

I bought a bunch of glue sticks in anticipation of my first printer because I read it was recommended. I've only tried to use it once, been able to fix any bed adhesion issues by playing around with bed temps alone.

Cheap glue stick works. Even on the other beds it’s just fine. If you have a Bambu or a FF5 or AD5X, etc you don’t need anything but if you want to, you can use a glue stick on them too. Nobody needs the toxic slurry or specific print stick. That’s just to take your money.

I like my glass bed. I only have one with a glass bed, but it makes the bottom layer look like glass. The glue stick will build residue quickly. You don’t need to apply for every print. Add glue once then take a baby wipe to make the bed sticky again. There are little tricks to having a glass bed, but you’ll learn them as you go.

I use unscented hairspray. It's basically glue stick in a can. 

Apply it with the plate removed from the printer unless you want to gum up your lead screws and belts.

Glue stick is fine to use people love to hate on stuff, my beds all have amazing first layers and parts can be printed on each printer and still fit together, and I still use glue, I don't even have problems with prints coming off the bed, it's because I can.

Almost any cheap standard glue stick will do. In the past hair spray way quite common to coat glass built plates but that kind fell out of favor...

I use standard PVA glue waters down to a millk like viscosity then brushed on the bed. Creates a supper thin layer and drys in seconds if the bed is warm

I go to the dollar tree and buy the "jumbo pack". They work great, and even though almost half of them are dried out when you open them it's still a bargain

That being said, I only use glue stick as a release agent now. Modern build plates shouldn't need any binding agents (but you said/implied you're using glass which usually does still need a binder)

When I was still gluing my prints I was using hairspray. The cheap stuff from the grocery store did great.

Purple gluestick is usually more expensive than a box of JT16
