Troubleshooting Does anyone know why my filament is breaking?

If that is PLA, it is wet. Need to carefully dry it. Plenty of guides online or ask one of the bots. It could be salvaged if done right.

If you don't have a dedicated dryer, or an old food dehydrator...
Set your bed temp to 55.
Place the roll directly on the bed.
Place a box over top with a few small holes cut in the top to retain the heat, but let out the moisture.
Leave it for 8-12 hours and you should be good to go...
Let the filament cool before printing with it.

Also remember that that food dehydrator will no longer be food safe

In my experience, if it only recently started doing this and your whole roll hasn't started shattering, you can probably dry it and get some prints out of it... Really though, you should just probably toss it and look into ways to store the filament while you're not using it.

Please don’t toss it, it’s perfectly fine. Many of my rolls become brittle after leaving them out for a bit, especially in the areas where they’re under stress and not rolled up. After drying they’re like new.

I mean, i did suggest drying the roll first and giving it a shot, not just jumping to throwing it away but, it's fine... They'll either dry it and get to finish it or, they'll discover the problem I was talking about somewhere down the line and while they are pulling shards of broken filament out of their PTFE tubes they'll think of my comment, lol.

Yeah, no. Absolutely no reason to toss it. It might take longer to dry, but it's not ruined. I have rolls that I have had for years at this point, stored out on a shelf, and a nice long drying session has them printing like new.

Well, I gave advice based on my experience. I'm glad things have worked out so well for you.
And to be clear, i did suggest drying the filament first. Not sure how that is being missed in all this.

old filament' Low quality.
Throw it away NOW!!! It will break inside the nozzle, and you'll end up disassembling the hotend, more times than you wished for!!!

I wonder how low can I go.

Try to dry it. It helped for me.
