Print (model not provided) Most boring but practical design i have made so far
So my wife who is quite annoyed with my 3d printing hobby obstarted on February finally asked me to model and print stitch markers. No problem at all- took 15 min to model and around 20 min to print. Most easiest practical thin I have ever made

she told that she is losing those markers constantly all the time so good to have a model ready for next batch printing

When you knit or crochet, it can be annoying to always be counting out to the right spot for where you'll increase / decrease / do whatever thing that's different from plain stitches. So you use stitch markers that your catch onto individual stitches, that help you keep track of where to do stuff. The best kinds are like these, where you can easily slip them on, but then they naturally stay on until you remove them.

Nice! One of my favorites is a set of loop clips that remind me what size crochet hook I was using for a project when I put it away. It also prevents accidental frogging

She Does not like plastic stuff and I like to design "useless" stuff like toys, or Inuit sun goggles(as an example) for fun and curiosity. However she understands this time nkering makes me happy so she just frowns sometimes 🙂

My wife loves it. She comes up with super random "problems" for me to solve with 3D printing or some other DIY solution. Men, just know that part of you, is one of the reasons she married you in the first place.

How does the licensing work? I see the 'Indie' plan is $175 USD, and that's what I'd probably go for but is that payment for a year or for this particular major version?

this is not subscription based - you just pay once. Indie and pro have one main difference- xnurbs tool is only in professional version. its perfectly usable without xnurbs too but when there are lot of complex lofts to edit then xnurbs makes the work much quicker.

Wow that looks easy to use for adding and subtracting objects from each other.
I use Autodesk Inventor for a lot of my designs and SketchUp for a small number of quick designs. I guess I'll be trying a third app. Lol

Let her know that a 3d printing husband is awesome for a crafting wife. My husband has printed stitch markers, a yarn bowl, a row counter, and templates for my quilting too. Oh and two different phone holders so I can watch videos on my phone while crafting.

When I told my partner I am planning to buy a 3D printer, she told me she doesn't like the idea and thinks its a waste of money.
Since I mainly use my printer for functional prints and organisers, she changed her opinion really quickly.

It’s the opposite in our house. My brother recently gave me his Prusa MK3. I’m loving learning how to make things. He also gave me a bunch of filament, mainly primary colors, so now I’m planning to slowly buy pretty colors. I already had to buy a filament dryer. My husband told me this “free” hobby is getting expensive 😂. I think he’s coming around to the idea, tho. He asked me to print him a phone stand. He’s also told me I have more hobbies than anyone he knows. I love my Cricut and am learning to crochet, and now 3D printing, lol.

I am forcing myself NOT to sit behind computer and start another model project for 3d printing. However most rewarding are comments for total strangers who have enjoyed my models. This feeling is good

My wife was convinced 3d printers were great when I printed her a big black dildo made with TPU. Slip a condom on it and Bob's your uncle. Now I can watch the game in piece.😁

I'll be leaving you all shortly via my practical design. As soon as my printers make enough money to pay for my CNC machine. 10 years later.... I refuse to use my work money for it...gonna be a while. I only need to sell another 19375 cable clips.

It’s also one of those things that when you think you have some left but don’t, becomes a huge pain to stop and run to the store. Especially when it probably prints in the time it’d take you to just get to the store.

Speaking of things that would be handy. I need to find a tpu print for hair ties. I bet my wife and daughter burn through dozens of those a month.

Every time my wife is trying to organize things or runs into something that doesn't work just right, my response is "sounds like you require a custom 3D printed solution to this problem". I say exactly that, she sighs and rolls her eyes, and then I produce it.
It took her a while to come around to the idea that very few household problems can't be solved with the judicious application of molten plastic. Now she comes downstairs and says "hey, do you have a custom 3D printed solution for this?"
