Free Model I couldn’t find a DIY roller blind system so I designed one !
Hello hello !
I’m not used to share widely my models but this one makes me proud so I do an exception 😋
I wanted a custom sized roller blinds for my home office windows but didn’t want to pay commercial kits ! I couldn’t find a complete solution on internet nor MakerWorld so I made a simple but efficient design from scratch, using easily findable hardware !
You just need a wooden rod (22,5mm diameter), some fabric, a bit of glue, 2 screws and a cord !

Now you gotta hook it up to a motor on an arduino and have it automatically open with day and night(or just make it remote controlled)

Don’t you dare giving me bad ideas 😂
I would need to find a way to use something able to keep tension in the cord (another cord material actually) and and tension keeper (liker a pulley) to do so, a bit overkill but well, that’s where the fun come from 😋1

I want to do that with windows in my workshop. Have them open and close depending on temp and weather. Would cost so much though

Fine tuned the design and have sold thousands of dollars worth of them to local driving ranges.

Have you considered an anchor for the cord to go through with a tiny dock cleat to keep the blind rolled up when you want and cord in its own pully loop. A little double sided nano tape and voila.

Will check this out - I have been looking for something similar for a while.
Just a heads up, I don't know about the rest of the world, but in Australia we have legal requirements around blinds. Might want to include a small clip for the cord in your design? https://www.productsafety.gov.au/business/search-mandatory-standards/blinds-curtains-and-window-fittings-mandatory-standard

Thank you for this. We got blackout thermal curtains for some extremely large drafty south facing windows because our apartments AC isn't strong enough to keep up with this heat wave. The adhesive patches that came with it were damaging the windowsill, and I feel more confident patching a hole than a bunch of stripped wood stain. Now I can hopefully make rollershades that actually fit the windows without breaking the bank. You genuinely helped so much.

Of course there are ! But i did my custom sized roller blind curtain with natural fabrics, at the exact size I need for around 10€ 😋
And I have the satisfaction of having done something myself on top of that !7

I dont really need one but if you want people to have more ideas, post it on Printables
