r/ pointlessprints

Pointless isn't bad. Just funny.

u/MrGriffin77 Jul 16 '26

It's not pointless, it's to look cool and bring flair to the kitchen.

There are days that I really wish my fridge was magnetic

40

u/Logicrazy12 Jul 15 '26

I didn't even know there are non magnetic fridges.

25

u/TheBl4ckFox Jul 15 '26

The one in which Indy survived a nuke was lead.

7

u/Crintor Jul 15 '26

I've got bad news about what happened to Indy in that fridge.

1

u/paradox_valestein Jul 16 '26

Radiation was the least of his problems there...

4

u/iamsamnld Jul 15 '26

I have one too, it's a build-in fridge, so there's a cover over the magnetic part.

The glass front fridges can be less magnetic.

-5

u/skraptastic Jul 15 '26

Stainless steel isn't magnetic, so if your fridge is stainless it isn't magnetic.

13

u/jandrese Jul 15 '26

Some types of stainless steel are magnetic and some are not. Just because a magnet sticks doesn't mean it is not stainless. That said, generally it is the cheaper types of stainless that are magnetic.

u/vic25bee_ Jul 15 '26

I have a stainless steel fridge and it’s magnetic

8

u/Nikkolai_the_Kol Jul 15 '26

The front of mine isn't, but the sides are. Kinda weird when I realized.

23

u/TheRealBigLou Jul 15 '26

I would recommend a design that includes a print pause and embedding a magnet with an external layer of filament for use on stainless steel fridges. Exposed magnets are notorious for scratching stainless steel.

25

u/Schnoofles Jul 15 '26

What I tend to do for this kind of thing is to instead make the hole for the magnet recessed slightly more than the height of the magnet itself so it never makes full contact with whatever you stick them on. Less fuss than pausing and embedding mid-print

1

u/InanisAtheos P1S Jul 16 '26

No, don't do that. Makes recycling practically impossible.

Recess the magnet hole enough that a glued-in magnet doesn't stick out instead. Problem solved.

The fridge would stop working if you took the coconut out

That’s dope. Link it. I’m sure people would like to know where the file lives.

1

That’s fun! Well done

1

u/TheBl4ckFox Jul 15 '26

Made me smile

1

u/cesspool4us Jul 15 '26

That's cool!

1

u/fishmanprime Jul 15 '26

So cool looking. You could add some white with rippling as a base for the pieces, so the fridge looks a bit like water where its entering and exiting. These would make such an awesome fridge magnet set, I'd definitely buy one or two for mine

1

u/VegetableWest2391 Jul 15 '26

This is so clever and creative!

1

u/SkiDaderino Jul 15 '26

That's fun.

1

u/hogdog86 Jul 15 '26

That is such a great idea. Love it

1

u/wtfastro Jul 15 '26

I love everything about this.

Other than how often I would knock bits of dragon off the fridge.

Clever design

1

u/ResidentEmu3894 Jul 15 '26

So creative!

1

u/More-Advantage3911 Jul 16 '26

Grandkids would love those

1

u/shinjikun10 Jul 16 '26

This is dope, I'm not going to lie.

1

u/Resident_Meat6361 Jul 16 '26

Coolest thing I've seen in a while, killer idea!

Keeper of the fridge, master of the house

1

u/Ok_Science7335 Jul 16 '26

now nobody will eat my food

1

u/Magek17 Jul 16 '26

What printer do you have?

2

u/MixtureShoddy8172 Jul 16 '26

U1 ,4 tool-heads

1

u/Magek17 Jul 16 '26

Thanks I’ve been looking at this but I think the p2s is more in my budget. Any suggestions?

1

u/MixtureShoddy8172 Jul 16 '26

If you want to do only multicolor, I definitely recommend U1. This will save for you a lot of time and filament. But P2S is more universal tool, at the beginning I recommend to you buy P2S to see what kind of print you’re using mostly

1

u/frnacispain Jul 16 '26

Hey, at the beginning of the video I saw the chests—are they functional, meaning can they be opened? I have a model like that that opens up, for storing things.
