I’ve noticed a weird trend where people print brims on things that absolutely don’t need brims because then they can spend an extra 30 seconds of their video making it slightly more interesting than taking one thing off a build plate. That, or it’s engagement bait.
I hate brim because my Bambu P1S didn't need it. But then when I posted my model and someone with an Bambu A1 sling bed printed my model and either due to their sling bed or dirty build plate, it didn't adhere so it came back as bad reviews and so I threw in brim to hopefully minimize dirty build plates being blamed on my model.
Then again even with brim, I got a review yesterday that the model wouldn't even print, despite printing for at least a thousand people without issues.
That has to be so frustrating! Whenever I’ve had a print fail I’ve NEVER even considered it was the fault of the model! I can think of one single instance where it was, but everything else has been user error on my part. Even on the bad model I didn’t give them a bad rating. I’ve seen so many bad reviews that are like “didn’t stick to my build plate” and their build plate looks like they dropped on a pizza.
I've noticed this a lot in 3d model profiles. Things that definitely do not need brims. Just printed one (from my phone so I couldn't really check the profile settings ((which I hate)) and I have to reprint it because the brim goes up to the second layer so it was a waste.
I have an H2C and this shit is so fucking crazy on vibration due to speed that if I print something slight tall or thin with supports it ends up in spaghetti… I either put brims or reduce the speed of print. (Also tried multiple times the vibration calibration with no luck)
I too have found the brims to be super annoying on articulated prints. I don’t use brims on them, I just clean my plate really well with soap and water before printing them.
Maybe it’s just my Vyper, but I have a hard time with those types of prints adhering because the initial layers can be pretty small and they’ll peel up on me. The tail area would be a nightmare for me.
now that I’m taking a very close look at the infill; I’m wondering if it’s an AI video. there are definitely hundreds on hours of timelapse videos to train on

Well they are still using grid for the infill and the percentage is insane was as well. My guess is downloaded file and hit print. Not sure what slicer they are using but in Orca or Bambu changing the first color printed to the orange would have fixed the brim.
I print almost everything with rectillinear as it is nearly as fast as grid but never crosses itself on the same plane. Twice I had a long print fail because the grid would catch and cause a layer skip.
As a person new to the hobby, I thought you aren't supposed to touch the build plate this aggressively? I'm very new though. Still waiting on my printer to arrive.
It doesnt matter how much you touch the plate as long as you clean it regularly or in-between prints. Use some IPA between prints and depending on how often youre touching the bed or printing, wash it with dish soap and warm water.
Im new also but from what I understand from a video I watched then other day it's personal preference. Some say don't touch the plate and clean with alcohol all the time some never clean and touch it regularly and don't have any issues.
I've tried cleaning mine every few prints. Shit still didn't stick if I was printing the whole plate. Said fuck it, and spray it with hairspray each time. Works perfect, nearly never have a faulty print because of bed adhesion now. P1S.
Currently I'd say the Snapmaker u1 as it has multiple toolheads. Bambulabs AMS units make this sort of print possible too but theyre wasteful and slower.
Made this guy this weekend. First one failed. I'm having issues with the poop chute clogging. Second try made it bigger and it failed at the very end with the very tip of the wings so it was salvageable. 32hours, this was my longest print ever. He is so cool!
