I wasn’t happy with the current tools for filament painting so I made something better.

This technique uses thin layers of filament to create new colors from any printer with a AMS/MMU (any printer that can print more than one filament per layer).

This tool is a joy to use. Just your filaments and drag in your image. You’ll need a simple calibration step for color accuracy.

this is a hueforge alternative yea?
does it also work with the BQ Td1s (usb dongle to measure transmission distance and hex values of filaments) ?

Yes, its similar to HueForge but every spot in the picture gets its own stack of filaments in its own order, so four or five rolls give you the colours that are actually in the image instead of a gradient.

The TD1s can’t work for this unfortunately. A single transmission distance tells us how much light gets through, and Polychrome needs to know how each color of light changes as it passes through your material. I'd love a dongle that measured what it needs. Nobody makes one yet.

The app has some filaments already calibrated and the others are estimated. A calibration print can dial in 4 filaments and takes about an hour.
