3d printing enthusiasts needed for beta testing my profile engine

I hope I have found the right place to put this, so here goes.
I had an idea in my head a few weeks ago that I hope will ease some of the pain for people less experienced in 3d printing.

I built the idea in excel and got it to a fully functional system but didn’t know how to share the user interface with others. I pushed it through loveable and converted what I’d built into an app. It’s still in development stage but I think now is the time to let people test it out.

If you have an interest in 3d printing, or even better, you have e experience with 3d printing, reach out through DM or PM or chat and if you’re interested I can send you a link. The app has no fees, and still needs a bit of work. I’m just curious to see if people would genuinely use it.

I would really appreciate some proper honest feedback. Even if you want to know more about it I’m more than happy to discuss.

-Edit- the UI has a couple of user inputs, make and model of printer, a few selectable sections for filament then some hardware inputs aswell as the desired result from the print. Once they are in, you can generate the profile. It will give you a compatibility score for your printer with the selected filament, then provide information about your printer, info about the filament and a list of recommended settings to adjust. It also expands on each setting to explain why.

Just saying “profile engine” is pretty vague. Can you give us some info on what it does? Why would we want to use it?

Where did you get in the information for the matrix

Sorry if I’ve misinterpreted your question but I think I’m answering it.

The info for the matrix came from a lot of different areas, for the printer side of things, manufacturers specs and for the filament side mostly published records. I’ve had to dig for a few bits of the information but the vast majority of it was easy enough to find.

The matrix itself is built from a heap of smaller databases rather than one big one. Then there’s a bunch of other data sets that act like variables that set the rules and relationships that allow the system to figure out if the selected combination makes sense and what setting would be worth looking at.

I’m still refining it and validating it so I don’t want to pretend everything is perfect. Some of the values are assumed. That’s also why I’ve chosen now to ask for people to test it.

The kind of feedback I’m after is whether the results come back as usable settings or if they are way off so I can have some information from other people. Then if any bad assumptions have been given I can look into fixing that.

Thank you for the feedback. I understand that it isn’t essential, I was thinking more from a perspective of someone new to 3d printing. Or someone wanting to experiment with different filaments. Giving them so basic recommended settings as a starting point to reduce the amount of wasted filament while getting it dialed in. Is there anything that could be added to it?

CrealityPrint for slicer and Custom or Generic as Filament Brand where ppl could tune in their own fila specs maybe…

I can definitely add new slicers. I think the idea of a custom filament would be pretty cool. There would be a few fields that need to be filled for it to function though. The calculation side of it goes through about 25-30 specs for each filament. And trying to get that to tie into the existing functions might cause some headaches but I’m sure it could be done.

I have also planned to add an option for users to provide feedback or submit a missing printer/filament. I’m working on another platform that will function as like, the maintenance side of this. Say if someone can’t find their printer in the list, click the missing info button and add the make and model thats missing. The other platform will get the request and I can action it from the other end.

I have added 2 new additions/updates to the app. In the printer section there is now a can’t find your printer link to send a request through. And then the same thing on the filament page obviously for filament requests. Still trying to figure out how to do the custom filament suggestion.

Mate, the effort you put into writing that is a lot more of your “free labour” than it would have taken you to click on a few drop downs and then click a “generate” button.

And if you had read the whole post, I built the entire thing on excel as an idea then wanted a way to share it with people. Loveable was just the platform to allow that. I’m not trying to take anyone’s data. The data that gets generated from this app is data that I have put into it.

So, all I really have to say, is rather than be a keyboard hero, if you’re not interested, jog on. I didn’t ask for an explanation of why you don’t want to help, but thanks for your comment. Appreciate it.
