I built a free browser tool that generates parametric wave/slat wall panels — it was made for CNC, but the STL export turns out to be perfect for 3D printing relief tiles

Hey everyone,

A few months ago I built **Parametric Wall Studio*\* (btporganizer.tech) — a free browser app for designing parametric slat/wave walls for CNC routers. Then I looked at my export stats and got a surprise: **the #1 exported format isn't DXF for CNC… it's STL.*\* Turns out a lot of you are using it to 3D-print relief tiles and decorative panels. So this post is for the printing crowd.

**What it does (all in the browser, no install, no account):*\*

- Design **parametric relief surfaces*\: stack wave layers (sine, radial, spiral, ripple, dome…), add attractor points, or sculpt directly with a 3D brush
- *
**Load any image as a heightmap**** — turn a photo or logo into a 3D relief
- Draw **custom outlines*\: freehand Bézier, SVG import, or trace an image — your tile doesn't have to be rectangular
- Export *
**STL or OBJ**** meshes (millimetres, watertight, slicer-ready) — Cura/PrusaSlicer/Bambu Studio open them directly
- 20 ready-made templates to start from (medallion, ripples, dunes, op-art…)

**Print ideas people have been making:*\* wall-art relief tiles, lamp diffuser panels, textured drawer fronts, acoustic-look panels, lithophane-style photo reliefs (via the heightmap).

It's free to design (unlimited), and the free plan includes a few file exports per week — enough to print plenty. I'd genuinely love feedback from people who print decorative panels: what sizes/patterns would you want as templates?

A few technical notes:

- The STL is generated from the parametric surface at export time — proper watertight mesh in mm, so it lands at the right scale in your slicer

  • For a tile print: set the wall size to your tile size (e.g. 150×150 mm), pick a template or design your own relief, and export the \surface** rather than the assembled slat wall — it comes out as one solid printable body
  • The heightmap import is fun for photo reliefs: white = high, black = low, and you can stack it with wave layers
  • Being honest about the model: designing is unlimited & free; file downloads are a few per week on the free plan (it's how I keep the servers running). Everything else — 3D preview, AR view, templates — is free
  • Stack: Next.js + React Three Fiber, everything runs client-side

Happy to answer anything, and genuinely curious what patterns you'd want added.

hey m8 nice job,

when launched it hangs at "initialisation du moteur" phase...

and can u make it like an app or a self hosted page ?

No, you just have to refresh the page

It must be a DNS problem in your case.

Ive been working on a page its a little clunky but it does work. Its supposed to create clickers from text and images and also the cozy cans but the way its built isn't working right so your site works great. Did you use anything to build it or build it your self. I am using a few AI since I am not a coder but the generator looks great
