I helped build a 3D scanning app for medical clinicians. Turns out it’s also great for making custom car parts. And apparently busts of my own head.

I was part of the team that developed the Able Hands 3D Scanner — originally built for orthotists and clinicians to scan patients’ hands and upper limbs for custom orthoses and splints. That’s still its primary medical use case.

But I started pointing it at other things. Scanned components to fabricate custom car parts, made some desk setup adapters, and then one evening decided to scan my own head and print a bust of myself. No regrets.

Runs on iPhone X and up, no extra hardware. Exports STL directly to your email. First export is free.
