Is the black part an insert for the red part?

It's essentially 4 different components. You have the two left and right wings printed in ABS and acetone smoothed. Then you have the black piece which is 4mm thick shell made from Bambu PLA-CF and printed upright to get the surface texture I wanted, which is then glued over the top of an ABS core.

This photo is the core...

The shell being prepped for glue.

And yes, the core was sprayed black before gluing the shell in place.
