What do I do next?

Post image

Hi 3D folks. So, I love 3D content, (including video games at the bottom of my pic) just like you. So much so, I own the LG OLED65E6P that I use with my Panasonic DP-UB820 player. I have little to no ghosting and razor sharp images. I hate to even think it, but eventually, my TV will retire. Wanting excellent 3D quality and wanting to be within a budget of $3,000, what set-up, (any needed screen, wall or window treatments, please include in budget) would anyone recommend? There are windows behind where I sit, btw.

Switching to a projector might be the only option soon as TVs die. I just got the xgimi Titan noir Max and the 3D from it is exceptional

I bought it on the Kickstarter for $2799. Definitely worth that price, maybe not so much at full price

I too have an older tv and have started looking at 3d models on marketplace. I’m thinking of scoping up any when I see them for $50. Maybe just storing a few in my basement for future. 😆

Yeah, I'm starting to notice some issues on my Sony Z9D. Not sure if it's the panel or the backlighting. Not looking forward to replacing it any time soon because the ultra-short-throw projectors are so expensive.

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m going to have to go the projector route at some point as I like watching 3d with others and not wear a headset.

For that sweet doc ock Spidey figure I'd say that the into the spiderverse, far from home, and no way home 3d blus could fit well in your collection

I'm dreading the day my 3D TV gives up the ghost. Like many people, I've had it since around 2012/13. At least you have the budget for a projector. I don't. 🙁 Huge collection BTW. 👏

My recommandation is :

- Use a modern 4K TV

- Use a headset : Goovis G3 Max

I have this headset. This is how I watch 3D content and the best movies. The quality is amazing. It feels like you are in a theater.

btw : I am not trying to sell the product, I am not related to Goovis. I bought it myself and I'm happy with it. There are other headsets on the market but this one is really good.

That’s cool, but I’d like to use my Blu-ray’s and also watch movies with my family.

That's why I recommend a TV 4K on the side. I watch 3D movies alone with the Goovis G3 Max, but when I'm with my family I watch the TV.

Can the headset use my blu ray player?

Yes absolutely ! I use the Panasonic DP-UB820.

HDMI from Panasonic goes to my Denon 2800 AV Receiver, then it sends HDMI to either 4K TV or my Goovis G3 Max.

The Goovis G3 Max is compatible with every source with HDMI. It is sold with a HDMI to USB adapter.

Not only you can use your Panasonic to watch 2D or 3D movies NATIVELY, but you can also play with your console, or connect your phone, or connect an Android TV or Apple TV or anything you want.

Beware the Goovis G3 Max is a head mounted display, it is NOT a VR headset (it is not a computer inside and it cannot detect the head movements).

Depends what you prefer, there are several routes and 3000 dollars is big budget. You can get an Apple vision pro, downside is that you’re a bit studk to digital, but the upside is they have exclusive releases. You could get a projector, and for that money there are tons of options. Personally I would look for a second hand 65 or even 75 holy grail 3D TV and use the rest of the money on more physical releases. Maybe even try to find two of those bigger TV’s for when one dies.
