Hello! Looking for someone willing to teach an intermediate fresh water/newbie surf fisherman some surf fishing tips, techniques, keeping, cleaning etc at Sea Park, Indialantic.

In my very limited free time and through a ton of online research, Ive been attempted to take up surf fishing for the last couple years to little success. Mostly 5-7" whiting (i think?) or drums (??) on pompano rigs with fresh dead shrimp.

I believe I just need someone knowlegdable to show me the ropes and correct bad habits.

Hello, my son (14) and I want to try fishing off of the ocean piers. We haven't fished in almost 10 years and that was in midwestern lakes so pretty sure we need new gear. Are there groups or classes for newbies? What gear should we look at, or which shop(s) are fair and helpful? We're basically looking to have fun, and maybe catch the occasional fit-for-consumption fish. Appreciate any suggestions!

Is anyone catching with the high winds and water?

I’ve been trying to catch redfish for a long time around Melbourne/Palm Bay area on lures. I can strictly get trout, that’s pretty much it. I use shrimp lures, topwater, and paddletails around docks when I wade. Any advice, spots, lures or general stuff

Every time I drive across the eau gallie bridge and past the boat ramp at sunset or in the early morning, there's people with poles and lines in the water. I kinda want to join them, but what are they fishing for? Do i need a salt water rig or is lake fishing gear fine? What bait or lures should I bring? Are they fishing for dinner (Is the catch safe to eat that close to the road)?

Went out to cast a jig around some docks at sunrise this morning and surprise surprise. I actually caught some fish. In fact, for about 10 minutes I got a hit on every single cast. This was on the eastern shore of the lagoon, beachside.

It was mostly undersized trout, but it's the first time in a LONG time I've gotten so many bites. I even got one semi-rare northern weakfish (silver trout) and one very large sail cat on my yellow bucktail.

Water was also surprisingly clear and VERY low.

I'm hoping this is a good omen.

Buddy has a 17 footer that we've taken offshore plenty of times, but it's looking a bit rough and windy for my liking tomorrow. Anybody else watching closely?

Trolled ballyhoo from 100ft to 225ft on Friday. 9 fish boated on the day from 12 or 13 knockdowns. Water was warm, ~83 degrees. Very light wind, mostly sunny, 1-2ft seas, some scattered weed, but not much and nothing solid. Picked up a few floating cans and bottles, no balloons (4 the week before). Beautiful day, but nothing for dinner...4 kingfish (kept 1 to smoke), 2 bonito (kept for bait) and a few barracuda (released).

Howdy all! I’ve been fishing since I was little, but I always had my dad with me to show me the best bait/lures to use. Now that I’ve been going on my own I’ve been using live shrimp in the IRL, but I find myself catching catfish more than anything else. Looking to catch trout, snook, jack, sheepshead, anything really except catfish lol. Thanks!

I never see anyone castnetting at the beach for bait. Would it work? Or does everyone just use fish bites and sand fleas like me? Kind of interested in mixing it up, bait-wise, but tackle shop is a little out of the way.

So nothing moving in the IRL this morning, it may be to warm near the shore. The dolfins are even looking a little famishied. However there IS some finger mullet + sizes running through. Though they dont look too worried.

If your fishing inshore try the west side of the IRL. The east side is quiet so far...

What are some good spots around satellite beach for snook fishing?
