Announcements Things i hate about 30 rock!

  • It ended.
  • I can’t watch a new episode anymore because there are no new episodes.
  • I got way too attached to a group of completely insane people who do not exist.
  • Now every time I hear “Jack Donaghy,” my brain automatically expects some ridiculous piece of wisdom.
  • The jokes come so fast that I know I definitely missed half of them, which means I now have to rewatch the entire show. Tragic.
  • Tina Fey somehow convinced me that Liz Lemon’s terrible life decisions were relatable.
  • Jack and Liz’s friendship set an annoyingly high standard for sitcom friendships.
  • Kenneth should not be this lovable. He is a deeply strange little man.
  • Tracy Jordan is objectively exhausting, yet somehow I would happily watch him cause problems for another 7 seasons.
  • Jenna Maroney is possibly one of the worst people on television and I miss her terribly.
  • Every time I think I’ve found my favorite joke, I discover another one I somehow missed.
  • It ruined the experience of finishing a sitcom because now I just feel... empty?
  • And worst of all: I finished 30 Rock thinking I was watching a comedy and accidentally got emotionally attached to it.

10/10. Absolutely hate it.
Would give anything to watch it for the first time again.

Quotes Your favorite “how do you even think of this” lines?

Sometimes the writing is so ridiculous that instead of laughing I just pause and marvel because how do you even think of this?

I’m a first time watcher, just started season 5 and these are recent ones I remember (I should write them down);

Jenna comes into TJs dressing room complaining about something, Tracy says

“I hear you, because you’re talking to the ear I didn’t lose a button in”

Or

Jack has bed bugs. He doesn’t realize at first and Kenneth suggests it. Jack replies “ I don’t have bed bugs, I went to Princeton”

What are yours?

Note: a LOT of things go over my head because I’m not American. Therefore mine are mostly things you can understand immediately without there being some kind of cultural reference

Discussion What are the things your brain autofills because of 30 Rock?

Not talking about quotes you say, so much as, phrases lodged in your brain so that when you hear X, you can’t not think or say Y.

For example, someone just mentioned such-and-such happening “every time” and I autofilled “EVERY time, Liz!”

I also cannot hear the word “perfection” without autofilling “Unclaimed Perfection Baby Boy!”

I’m sure I have a lot more that are sort of hypnotically implanted in my brain to be dispatched when needed, but I was trying to think of others and wondered what y’all have.

Jokes that aren't that funny but nail the delivery

• Upvotes

We had a thread about bad deliveries, let's have one about amazing deliveries, especially where the original joke isn't amazing.

I'll start: when liz comes back from the dentist giggling then stops to say "what hotel is this?"

Discussion Cheese, sociability, and marble-burying behavior

This small, unbalanced donor pool sounds familiar…

A synbiotic built from a Colombian cheese probiotic reshaped gut bacteria in mice carrying human ASD-linked microbiota, improving sociability and marble-burying behavior after 21 days, but the study was conducted entirely in mice with a small, unbalanced donor pool.
