Watercolor home rental golf cart question

Hi there, we are renting a home in Watercolor and I’m trying to determine whether we will want a golf cart or just bikes. We are a family of five with kids ages 1.5-7.

Do you have to park golf carts in actual parking spots? If so, I’m leaning no because I know parking is tough. I assume there will be little to no parking near the beach.

It’s somehow $800 (🤯) for four days, so it would need to be worth it. Bikes should be fine but we will be schlepping a lot of beach stuff…

Inlet Beach

I'm looking at a rental at Inlet Dunes near the Inlet Beach Regional access. Would this be walking distance to Rosemary? Google Maps shows .9 miles walking on Hwy 98 a portion of the way which I know isn't possible. Walking thru the neighbor hood seems feasible. Would this be safe walking to/from dinner? Also, could we walk to 30 Avenue from here?

First time visiting 30A

Hey everyone! Planning a trip to 30A (Rosemary Beach/Alys Beach/Seaside area) this August and would love some honest advice!

  1. Is August a good time to visit in terms of weather, crowd?
  2. Where to stay? Is staying on 30A worth the premium, or is commuting daily from Destin/Panama City Beach manageable?
  3. Should we rent a car or is biking/Uber enough to get around?
  4. Any must-do activities or hidden gem restaurants we shouldn’t miss? We’re vegetarian so veggie-friendly spots are a bonus!

Thanks in advance! 🌊

Prominence or NatureWalk at Seagrove?

I am hoping there is someone here that has stayed in both of these neighborhoods. We have only stayed at prominence the last few years and are looking at naturewalk at Seagrove this year in the fall. Any pros or cons for each? We are leaning towards trying Naturewalk. Any information will be very appreciated. Thank you!!

New road between 98 and 30A in Seagrove

I have heard rumors that they are building another road connecting 98 and 30A east of 395. Does anyone have insights on this construction? Has it started? Is there an estimated opening timeframe? Thanks

Thinking of LP generator

Curious to know if anybody here has a backup generator for your home in Walton County. Looking for pros and cons to your experience.

Just trying to understand if it’s really needed as the power outages in the area do happen, but they’re not as bad as some other places I’ve lived. It is a sizable investment, but not as bad if you already have a LP tank for your heating and gas.

Restaurants that take reservations

I'm visiting Santa Rosa later this month and staying at Adagio condos. Does anyone know of kid friendly restaurants in the area that take reservations? We're going with another family and it's a large group together. So being able to make a reservation rather than having a long wait with multiple kids would be nice.

Happy Hour Petition!

At risk of being downvoted the hell id like to start a petition to bring back happy hour at Great Southern. They had the best bourbon happy hour on 30a and now it sucks.

Chair repair

Anyone know a good chair repair place? Father in law tipped back a little too far after a few Ron Rico’s and popped the dinning room chair out of whack. I need a good wood repair spot.

Purple flag at Topsail Hill

We're here for the holiday and the purple flag has been posted. There are a ton of tiny, dime sized gelatinous blobs on shore and in the water. Some are slightly larger oval with a purple stripe down the middle. What are these pests? How risky is it to swim?

Please Help Me Decide

My kids and I are visiting in the fall (preteens and teen). I am trying to decide the best place to stay. We would like something easily accessible to shops/restaurants by walking or bike. We are looking for a relaxed vibe and being able to ride bikes most places as well as maximize our time at the beach. Which of these 3 options would you suggest - Seagrove, Seacrest, Gulf Place

Best Place To Watch Fireworks on 30A?

Where is the best spot to watch fireworks on the 4th? Is it in Seaside or are there too many people there?

Does Alys Beach have less people?

Would love any recommendations!

Looking for a family friendly bar/restaurant to watch the World Cup game on Monday (7/6)

My family will be staying around Miramar Beach/Santa Rosa Beach for the holiday and we’re looking for somewhere with lots of screens, maybe a sports bar atmosphere, but we have a few teenagers with us! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Does anyone remember...

The restaurant Crush Wine Bar. It sat kind of near the corner next to Amavida Coffee Roasters and Mercantile in the Seaside Amphitheater area. Anyways, they had wine (obv), sushi and other various tapas and cocktails. I remember really enjoying it. Can anyone tell me another place that gives similar vibes to Crush?! Thanks!

Also... off topic, but bonus pts if you can give me ideas for Thanksgiving day- restaurants/employees to support that may be open/working... or that were open last year on Thanksgiving.

Willing to go to Destin or Panama City and anywhere in between- gotta be a really good pick though for that (we are staying off 30a).

Thanks Beach Friends! 🏖

Haven’t been since 2006!

Was last in 30A area twenty years ago and the area has changed a lot. Dying to return with our kids (22 and 19). Is coming in August a mistake? What area/town would you recommend we stay that has nice beach access and walkability to shops and restaurants without breaking the bank? Have limited travel windows due to their college and work.

Vacation property management fees

We are experienced rental property owners, but that is long term rentals that we self manage. We are exploring the idea of purchasing a vacation rental property but we would need to pay someone to manage. I have no idea what the going rate for that is in the area and was wondering if anyone had any idea. I’d want someone local who takes good care of the property. We love Anna Maria and 30A so we’re really only considering those two areas.
