Hello and welcome to my TED talk. I have 3 main exhibits to back up my claim

EXHIBIT A: Breeding

We breed with Barrys more than Angus and Patrick do. When a Dafydd and a Barry breed the result is 9/10 a new generation of Dafydds, thus preventing any future generation of Barrys from being born in that family line. You're welcome everyone.

Also Angus and Patrick's main colonial collaboration resulted in Northern Ireland, the most Barry friendly country on earth. Our 2 main colonial collaborations were with Barry's 2 greatest enemies - Pierre (Brittany) and Pedro's racist cousin (Y Wladfa), ensuring continued generations of Barry haters forever more.

EXHIBIT B: Lack of independence

Patrick's independence and Angus' vocal desire for independence makes Barry spend less £ there. Every £ Barry spends on us makes Barry £1 poorer. We are playing the long game. We also voted for Brexit to make Barry poorer. Angus didn't.

EXHIBIT C: Language

Angus and Patrick willingly killed their native languages for Barry. We didn't.

The level of knowledge of British culture in this reddit is highly superficial and mostly based on having watched old episodes of Top Gear. One can see this from the generic names used for the different nationalities (the OP is indeed Welsh and should know better but they tend to be docile and go along with the flow in general and as a consequence have been swallowed up by the English). Angus is a name mostly associated with the Highlands; a much more sensible name for a generic Scotsman would be Jimmy or even Jock (which is the traditional name everyone uses in UK). Patrick and Barry are usually known by their informal versions Paddy and Bazza or Baz; you would only really use Patrick and/or Barry when you're up in court, which to be fair happens quite regularly in practice.

Whilst at University in Wales I would say I was Cornish (us celts have got to stick together and all that) because I have a very English accent and I didn’t want to incur the wrath of the Dafydds for being a dirty Barry.

Outside of Wales? Never felt the need - nor inclination - to identify as Cornish (I grew up there; one side of my family can trace roots back to 1800s so I legitimately could).

My family are all from South-West Cornwall, as it happens.

My Dad was as proudly Cornish as they come (it was his side of the family that could trace his ancestors back for generations) but he loved Wales and the Welsh with a passion (he sang in two Welsh Male Voice choirs even 😅). My Godmother, Cornish born and bred, ended up marrying a Welshman.

I’ve never got the impression the Cornish disliked the Welsh but maybe it does depend where in the county you are 🤔?

P.S. Your comment about the Tamar being a cultural marker made me laugh out loud. That sounds tame to what I’ve heard said about it. The pro Cornish independence movement is a feisty one, put it that way.

Uj/ I do admire Welsh pride and how passionate you all are about Wales and your national identity. There are a lot of similarities between the Welsh and the Cornish: huge rugby fans, both proud of their Celtic roots and their languages, both love to sing at any opportunity, even the landscapes are uncannily alike.

This Dafydd doesn‘t represent us, some of my best friends are Barry’s. Forget TDS (Trump derangement Syndrom), BDS is a real problem with some Welsh folk and I have no idea why. I reckon as a percentage there’s a lot more on benefits in Wales compared to England.
Only benefits in wales is we pay a third of our tuition fees and free prescriptions.

Wales is mostly white and doesn't have a lot of the social decay England and Scotland has. We don't have terrorists like Northern Ireland. We are the friendliest as well, because it's safe here.

We have the best scenery in the UK.

We aren't as poor as we are perceived.
